NEW COURAGE FOR GORD SITE -
BIGVDOGG - 09-27-2016
Throughout the summer The Facebook fan forum and its members raised over $50000 via various fundraising efforts including group auctions and fan prepartys during the tour across Canada and in Buffalo. All funds raised to date have donated to Sunnybrook Hospital. We are all very proud of what has been accomplished but this is just the beginning! We have formed a fundraising committee and have big plans. Moving forward we have decided to split our fundraising efforts to include secret path. We have opened a new website,Instagram,Twitter, and Facebook page, all dedicated to raising $ for these 2 funds in Gord's name. There is a dedicated "gift shop" with unlicensed fan inspired merchandise available for purchase with all proceeds being directed to these 2 funds. We are in the early stages of planning our 1st ever "hipcon" convention for fans to come together and celebrate the band and their music and to raise money for both charities. Location and date to be announced November 1st. Please check out the new site http://www.courageforgord.org and come join us at The Official Tragically Hip Fan Forum on Facebook!

The whole endeavour is amazing, but it's this part in particular that piques my interest. Fan "merch" (for lack of a better word. fan projects? ) are some of the most beautiful Hip merch I've seen, esp tshirts. & the idea of a HIPCON is just...I'm at a loss for words. Not just for the stuff that would be available, like fan merch, but for the community it would bring together. & also, & most important to me, because it will help establish the legacy of the Hip, & ensure people continue to write about & focus on the Hip. It's also just an amazing tribute to the band & Gord, to something that started out as a tour (or even just as music, a new album) & has already wound up as this beautiful glorious steamtrain charging into the future.
People amaze me, is the upshot of all that.

I just had a look at the site & fb page. So impressive & inspiring! The fundraiser in Syracuse--SYRACUSE!!!--is knocking me out, lol. The whole thing is such a great response to a terrible situation.
