Amazing songs we never got to hear live on this tour - pars9393 - 08-30-2016

As most of us are coming down from the emotions of last week, it leaves me sad we just didnt get to see certain songs live ever again, real classics!! I knew goin into this tour I would be just happy whatever I got but I knew I would still be sad about songs I never got to see live or simply ones they haven't played in over 20+ years.

My only wish was someone just would convince them that certain stuff they thought was garbage is amazing and who knows what extra gems we could have gotten this tour. I'm really happy with the way everything ended but I always keep wondering and hoping!

I can't complain. I'm extremely grateful for the fact that they easily could've gone 'greatest hits' at every show, but instead played at least 4 songs from every album, including a bunch of lesser played songs and stuff I've never heard live before. They varied it up more than they have since 2009, which is impressive especially considering Gord's condition. After 20 shows since 2004, I got to hear The Luxury, Lake Fever, Last of the Unplucked Gems, Use It Up, The Dire Wolf, and Throwing Off Glass all for the first time ever. Plus, a few rare-ish tunes like Eldorado, So Hard Done By, and Toronto #4.

I'm wondering if someone has a list or can direct me to a list of songs by album that were never played live? I'm looking at my own concert stats and percent of songs I've seen live and I expect that number increases a fair bit with the qualifier that x number of songs were never performed.

I liked the mix of songs -- each show had at least a few thrown in there for the long-time fan who stuck with the band. If not for the circumstances, it would have been cool to see more MMP if it had been a "proper tour". Oceans Next was great live. Would have liked to hear more of that album live.

Songs never played, beside off of MMP -- only one that comes to mind is Emergency, though elsewhere someone posted a set list where they did play it. Lots of low single count plays.

As I Wind Down The Pines has never made a live appearance, but it is a song about playing music not in front of an audience.

My song I wanted to hear was "The Darkest One"

38 years old would have been nice too.

As difficult as it would be, it would have been cool for them to play each album on this tour. Start at their self titled in Victoria and work through their discography as they move across Canada. Yeah, I have high standards

this is more of what I was talking about, not songs that have never been played but ones that didnt get played on this tour and have been played super rarely over 20 years. here is my top 15

cordelia (last played 2007 but still played very rare after 1998)
38 years old (last played 1993 then 2006 but only a few times)
fight (last played???)
bring it all back (last played???)
get back again (last played 1993)
highway girl (last played???)
killing time (last played???)
she didnt know (last played???)
when the weight comes down (last played???)
trickle down (last played???)
everytime you go (last played 2000 I saw at cobo hall, wasnt on setlist though)
another midnight (last played???)
darkest one (last played 2009???)
inevitability of death (last played 2009?, not on this tour)
inch an hour (last played 2009? but always played rarely)

and there are way more but i thought 15 was good, sad that even these we never get to hear again Sad

Solid list. I was hoping they were going to play some rare stuff in Kingston with it being the last show and their home town but nope. Either way, I feel blessed to have been in the building.

Still hasn't hit me that it was probably their last show.

I would love if he did a few shows for his upcoming solo album..

I've wanted Bring It All Back for years. Sad

Some are repeats from other posts but here's my wish list:

Man
Here, In The Dark
Depression Suite
Highway Girl
On The Verge

I would have bet money they played an EP song in Kingston, but oh well....

Good call there. Would have loved to have heard that live.

Also wish they would have played Yawning or Snarling at one of the shows I was at... a couple of lucky crowds heard it on this tour but not me.

Oh well, hard to complain and all, of course...

Love DS. Saw them play it in 2009. Love that album and tour.

Last recluse as well.

Not a complaint whatsoever on what was played this tour. Amazing that they pulled it off....and gave us the variety that they did!

However, I do have a comment related to the thread (songs not played this tour etc).

I would've loved to have been a fly on the wall during the rehearsals for the tour. I wonder what else was rehearsed, tried out or talked about. I'm betting more songs than the 72 (which is an awesome number!) were rehearsed but didn't see the stage.

Sometimes, being a fly or spider in the Bath House rehearsal/recording pad would be great!!!!
