Maybe every Canadian is headed to Kingston on Saturday. The bleacher seats for the outdoor broadcast are gonna be somewhere around Barrie.

I voted for the guy and think he's doing a good job but he should keep his ass at home. He's not only taking space that fans should have (probably 10 for security guys alone) but is going to create even more chaos in a city that will be bursting at the seems.

He could never simply go to the Ottawa show without fanfare. Not only would there be no grand "announcement" but it wouldn't squander enough taxpayer dollars for his liking! No CBC cameras there either.

Has he ever passed up on a photo op in his life?

Over/under on CBC showing him on the telecast 36 times.

Yes many diehard fans will be in Kingston, as many of us as possible Im sure. At this point I forsee a crowd skewed towards the wealthier fans and the type who want to recite "I was there!" over the type who can recite the lyrics to deep cuts, but it will surely be loud regardless of which lucky people are in the audience.

I like Trudeau, but this kinda bugs me. I really hope he respects the band and the fans, and doesn't create too much of a stir when he shows up. This isn't about him and I'm sure he has the good sense to realize that. Hopefully they'll keep it fairly low-key and usher him into the building early through a separate entrance or something. And for the love of all things good and pure, I hope CBC doesn't cut to him every 5 minutes throughout the broadcast.

There was no "fanfare"--it was a brief press rel from his spokeswoman. He's known the band for a long time, & knows Gord well. He's seen them several times, has said how much he admires them, & is a fan. The impression I got from the article is that he's there to join fans in paying tribute to the Hip, & I would guess that everyone involved will actually take steps to ensure the focus is where they all want it to be: on Gord & the band. Gah.

My thoughts exactly. I doubt it's taken away from any ticket sales, will most like be a private box owned by k-rock. Maybe a few "contest winner" seats gone, but I highly doubt he'll be on the floor.

I think he'll have enough respect for the guys to request no special attention by media or CBC cameras.

Have you considered that he might actually be a fan?

Seems a lot of people just want to rip on this guy at any opportunity.
