New Hip played at Canucks game on Sunday night? -
irish hip guy - 01-29-2004
Was anyone else at the Vancouver Canucks game on Sunday night vs Nashville and thought they heard a clip of a brand new Hip song played during the 1st period?
I heard Gord Downie was at the game
Call me crazy but anything is possible.
I will try to dig up some dirt through work.
The photos from the Hip show in Whistler on Oct 28th /04 are still up on our website if anyone hasn't seen them.

Yes Yes we need more dirt.............somehow I doubt something from the new CD would actually be allowed to be played on the loud speakers at a hockey game...those dudes need I'm pretty sure someones permission to play certain music,I can't see them being able to slap on any old thing their heartz desire, not to say New Hip is any old thing, ah you know what i mean......And I'm dam sure if G.D.was there he'd be up in that booth P.D.Q. to take that away said music in question. With the cd not being released yet the Hip will not jeprodise a leak of any sort........gabbishe?

i think irish hip guy's point was that maybe gord gave them a clip of a song to play since gord was at the game was there, otherwise where would they get the clip from? it hasnt been leaked yet.

How do you know Gord was there? Or was that just a guess?

Irish Hip Guy, you were at the Whistler shows, out of curiousity, do you remember which song they could have played a clip of at the game? Could it be the new single??? :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

That would be crazy if Gord was walking around with a demo in his hand!

Sounds crazy, but if it was a demo of the new single, they could let it purposely leak to build interest in the album..whet our appetite so to speak. Leaking just the single wouldnt hurt album sales.

I think that following the recent drought of record sales, The Hip will follow a more traditional approach to building media awareness. That would include a single, and a video, possibly months before the actual release of the CD. With Music @ Work, and In Violet Light, the videos were aired after the release, and the CD singles were introduced to the radio a mere weeks in advance. These marketing tactics might also be introduced by their new manager, after all, who really knows who this mystery man is? And enlisting Adam Kasper as their producer would definitely indicate a longing to re-introduce themselves in the limelight in which they so badly deserve to be in, as he the is the man to produce music with a rock foundation, yet pop friendly sound... either way though, we're looking at 5 months until a new hip album!!!!!

Has anyone else noticed a dramatic increase in the amount of Hip being played on the radio? I heard 8 songs by The Hip on the radio yesterday. And I don't spend that much time listening to it - morning show, drive to work, and drive home. These songs were sperad between Edge102 & Q107 in Toronto.
The morning show guys on The Edge even mentioned that it seemed like they were playing more Hip. Perhaps this is mart of the plan to build momentum leading up to a new single/album?
Whatever the cause, I like it!

In the past week i have been hearing a ton of UTH material. And isnt the topic songs you would hear. We are talking about She didn't know, trickle down and 38 years old. Which was a very nice surprize to me.
More Hip on the radio is always a plus.

Is that just a random guess? I hope you're right.

I think it'll come out in April...that way it'll be just under two years since IVL and these days, that's not too bad. In the 70s we would already have had another album or two since IVL, but such is the age we live in.

I wouldn't say five months is a guess... afterall, there last three albums have come out in mid-June... I suppose its a guess based on trend... but April would be nice, VERY nice...
