Band Playing Tightly Together - spasticreelin - 07-23-2016

Didn't see the whole show via periscope, so was wondering if the band stayed physically close together on stage the whole show

Reasons?

Solidarity

Not wanting Gord to feel a need to move as much?

Make Gord look like he still has great mobility?


It was obviously done for a reason...

It was obviously done for a reason...

They spread out to normal formation about 7 or 8 songs in? The stage looks smaller as well, so I don't think they're as spread out as "normal" concerts.

There was a cool moment when they first came out in that configuration - what looked to me to be an acknowledgement from the group of the significance of the first show of the tour but also for Gord.

They stayed in that configuration for the Up to Here and Man Machine Poem portion of the show then spread out after the break. Johnny had two drum kits up there one for each configuration. It was really neat to see them play so tightly and you go the sense it was as much for them as us.

Gord's mobility was just fine - he was maybe a little less agile and kept his movements tighter but I didn't feel that impacted his performance he still worked the stage really well.

We will have to see if they start Vancouver in a similar configuration.

I liked the feel of that - saw some great eye contact with each other, etc

Had a real brotherly feel....very cool

i think they made the stage as tight/small as possible to allow for lower level side seats to be sold and more floor access hence the smaller stage space
