Get Back Again and unreleased gems -

I'm assuming there is a reason why Get Back Again was never officially released - seems like a hit single if there ever was one...many of you on this Board know a lot more about the band than I do, so any story behind that song would be appreciated...Ive loved it for so long
While on the topic, what are your favourite tracks that have been unreleased?

The two unreleased tracks that I'd like to see a proper studio release for would be Montreal and Anchor on a Thread, both recorded during the Road Apples sessions. I love Paul's "Oh yeah/Ah yeah" background vocals on the latter as well as the propulsive feel of Johnny's drumming on the track. As for Get Back Again I first came to it through a VHS bootleg of the 1990 Misty Moon show but the definitive version for me is still the one Gord and Paul did on Murray McLaughlan's CBC radio show in the early 90's.

Can help you there, on the most recent Tragically Hip Radio weekend on SiriusXM, Rob Baker specifically talked about Get Back Again as an example of "nailing it on the first take"
Story goes, the first time the band played it in studio together, it was magic. Rob described the feeling of just knowing they had something special and even exchanged a look with Gord S while they were playing, they knew they were firing on all cylinders.
At the end of the song, the producer came in and said 'that was great, let's do it one more time, we didn't have the tape rolling' :nooooo
They could never match what they had that first time so it got pushed back and pushed back. Played a handful of times live and was recorded in studio during the Up To Here sessions. It's in the vault somewhere.
As for me, I've always loved the song "Montreal"

I'll put a vote in for Blonde Solid. I play it in regular rotation so much my wife said the other day, "I forget, which album is this one from?" One of my all time favourites.
