Hipbase Meetup - carebread - 06-05-2016

Now I'm not planning on spearheading anything, and I know there are preshow fundraisers being planned for every stop on the tour, but it may be helpful to gather a list of which shows you are attending and possibly arrange a meetup/predrinking sort of thing? We have a couple months to figure this out!

My focus before the Kingston show will be to be outside the K Rock Center with cash begging for a ticket.

I live in Kingston and will be happily organizing event(s) for August. Already have a few ideas bouncing around my head. For those of you arriving from out of down and staying a day or two, I was thinking a golf tournament the day before or after, perhaps a little hip poker game, and of course pre and post show meetups for the loyal fans, ideally with some of us displaying memorabilia collected over the years in addition to spinning the hip on vinyl and live recordings. Have already began informal talks with a golf course and a couple of nearby venues. All of this before securing a ticket to the show :lol:

Should I start a dedicated thread for these Kingston events and to cultivate suggestions/feedback?

Would you like me to add you to the FB group for the fundraiser? Even if you don't want to participate, just to make sure events don't overlap?
I'm willing to help with the Kingston events, but we've not found a lead. I'm not in town so it's too much for me to handle!

I am willing to meet up at a couple of these even for shows I don't have tickets for just to meet some more of you on here. All positive experiences in the past.

Thinking about having a small Hip vinyl listening get together at my place, before the Ottawa show. I'm just over 5 minutes away from the CTC.

I will do everything I can to help you out. Sad If I would have known, I would have bought a couple more platinum tickets to fill my 4 ticket limit. Really am kicking myself for not doing that. They were there and I had the chance.... (they were pricey but boy do they seem cheap now. And I would happily outlay the cash for hipbasers to cover them but wasnt going to do that on speculation. I wouldnt charge more than face value and I have simply given away a lot of tickets over the years or had them unfilled, but that face value was still high, and at least the band gets a lot more for that seat. But I am driving literally across the country, taking 2 weeks off work, hotels, food, gas, tourist junk, merch, etc. and the tickets are a small portion of the cost of the trip.)

I cant speak for anyone else here, but I would absolutely chip in to a fund to get you into the show if an acceptable option presents itself.

For the Kingston show, I'll be heading up Friday afternoon, so whatever is planned for then, I'm down. With Toronto #2 and #3, heading up Friday afternoon and staying until after the show on Sunday. The other shows will be more a "drive up for show, head home immediately after" sorta thing. Stupid work.

How about a Hipbase meet-up/fundraiser at the Toucan on show night?

For context, in 2004--I think--a couple Pearl Jam fans started a group called Wishlist, which continues to organize local fundraisers whenever the band performs. We could do something like that, but for just the one show, and give the money to Sunnybrook. ORRRRR...maybe we could do more than just the one show?
