I love Wal-Mart - mrlayance - 01-05-2004

Where else can you get Sewing Needles, Milk, U2 DvD and Garlic cheese Fingers in one stop.

Only Wal-Mart

- dannya2 - 01-05-2004

It is also my fav store

- gratts99 - 01-06-2004

yes me too, although i feel bad because its an american company and poor zellers is going bankrupt!

But we shop where its cheapest and where its most convienent! :thumb:

- dyersbay - 01-06-2004

Yep I also love Walmart. Sometimes I'm in there like 3-4 times a week, I'm not sure why but sometimes it seems like that!

yeah and Zellers sucks! I try to shop there when I can but their prices are usually more than Walmart, but they should be doing o.k. I think they are owned by the bay.

 I hate Wal-Mart
You will never find me in one. Yes, they do have a great selection, and good prices, but the stores in my area are consistently trashed and dirty. No matter which one of the 4 or 5 in my area I go to. Every experience I have had there has been poor, whether a product is out of stock or poor customer service or the store just smells bad that day. I wonder if the Canadian ones are nicer?
For me, I go to Target. The prices are comparable, the stores are always immaculate (even during the holidays!), and the employees are friendly. Their product mix isn't as large, but I will sacrifice that anyday for good service.
I'd love to hear another opinion from Western New York...
Just my pennies.

Cheers!

Chad

Chad, I agree with you, Target is generally nicer, but Walmart's price are lower. Also, at least in the States, the further south you go, the cleaner and more well kept the Walmarts are. Southerners generally take pride in their Walmarts. Smile

I have always noticed that the Walmarts are fairly clean. All the ones I have been to anyway. But to add a few things the isles are way to small. They have about 20 checkouts with about 5 open, and it's ALWAYS packed. I love Zellers for that, it's NEVER busy at Zellers even during Christmas. I really love target too. I wish we had one here!! Why don't we have a Target? I guess it's very similar to Walmart maybe that's why. Confusedcratch:

- gratts99 - 01-06-2004

my family calls wal-mart " Dirt-mart". And why do they have 20 cash registers with only 11 open (max ive seen even during christmas)

Hudsons bay company does own zellers, however they are doing very poorly and will opt to close some stores soon.

Wal-Marts prices may be lower, but I am one of those people who is willing to pay a few extra cents for better service, i.e. get treated like a human. Ya know, I heard the same thing about Southern Wal-Marts too.

Gratts, you must not have any in St. Catherines-er what am I saying, you're like my neighbo(u)r. The one in Niagara Falls, NY is probably the closest one to you. Wal-Marts prices may be a bit cheaper, but I have noticed recently that Target seems to be catching up.

- farmerdan - 01-07-2004

i dont really have anything to say about this this topic even though my dad works for wal-mart head office in canada. but that was awesome!!!!

Yeah, I am noticing that I am putting 'u's in words now also, thanks to my Canadian and Dutch friends...hahaha Big Grin (neighbor=neighbour)

Chad, I am with you on the cleanliness and poor service at Walmart. The two that I have been in (McKinley Mall area and Galleria Mall area) were both horrible. (dirty store and very unfriendly employees)...so yeah, I will always go to Target, even if they are just a bit more.

2 people that I have known that have worked there, say that the company treats their employees like shit, so that is probably most of the problem.

- VioletlightHeron - 01-08-2004

Wally World is great in my opinion, but the one in my area just plain sucks. I moved down to Milwaukee for college and the Wal Mart near me not only closes at 9 pm, their selection is terrible.. and they are one of the "supercenter" Wal Marts. IMO, its different from the one i love in west bend cause Wal Mart doesnt think urban neighborhoods are worth investing in, even if the urban market is the one that desperately needs something like Wal Mart for selection and prices. But, they disdain the urban market cause they seem to have more problems then the ones they open in the suburbs. I think its more of a problem with Wal Mart's attitude than the actual problems that have happened.

We're arguing. About Wal-Mart.

You can always tell when it's a slow period for Hip fans.
