Will buy a bottle for the rack, but $25 gets you a damn good bottle of wine these days. Other than the novelty it's hard to believe this stuff will measure up. Could be wrong though, looking forward to some taste reviews.

$45 shipping to the maritimes for 2 bottles.... Anyone want to maybe make a big order and try and get cheaper shipping?

Stoney Ridge uncorks the Tragically Hip
Iconic rockers team up with Vineland winery to launch limited release wine

VINELAND — This holiday season, music lovers will have the opportunity to uncork the Tragically Hip.

On Monday, the Canadian rockers debuted their first wine, a collaboration with Vineland’s Stoney Ridge Estate Winery. The ultra-premium wine — a 2012 Grand Reserve is a red blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot — coincides with the re-release of the band’s 1992 album Fully Completely and is adorned with the same iconic album cover artwork as the label.

“Every one of us has been wine drinkers for a long time,” said guitarist Rob Baker at the wine’s launch in Vineland on Monday.

Putting out a wine, added fellow guitarist Paul Langlois, was something that just seemed like a good fit. When it came time to choosing a winery, they were drawn to Stoney Ridge’s reputation for award-winning wines and the great team there.

"Over the years we have watched and tasted with enthusiasm as the quality of Niagara wines continued to increase and we are excited to be working with such an acclaimed, multi-award winning winery in Stoney Ridge on the release of this premium wine," said Langlois on behalf of the band. "We think people will be blown away."

Baker added they’re supporters of domestic wines, and Niagara was their first choice.

“The Okanagan makes some very high-quality wines, and Prince Edward County is also coming on strong, though more in a boutique way, but when it comes to quality, quantity and reliability it would be very difficult to beat Niagara,” he said.

The band worked with Stoney Ridge’s head winemaker Jeff Hundertmark to select the perfect blend for their debut wine.

“We did a lot of collaborating through tastings, it was probably seven to eight months of intense tastings to develop the blend,” said Hundertmark. “It was really important that we were able to come up with something that we’re all proud of and the band was happy with.”

The collaboration has continued, he noted, adding they’ve been tasting some 2013 wines out of the barrel and making preliminary notes for a 2013 grand reserve.

“Jeff really brought us through the process,” Langlois noted, adding the winemaker helped them to make informed decisions for their debut wine.

Hundertmark said the band members were being a bit humble.

“They came to the table with a lot more knowledge than they are letting on,” he said, with a laugh.

Canadian radio and TV personality Bob McCown purchased Stoney Ridge Estate Winery in the summer of 2013. An admitted fan of the band, he said teaming up with such an iconic act helps to promote the high quality of wines Niagara is producing.

“We are proud to partner with The Tragically Hip in continuing to raise the awareness and acceptance of premium Niagara VQA wines and we look forward to working with the band to distribute this incredible wine," he said.

Priced at $25 a bottle, the Bordeaux-style reserve red will have a very limited release with only 1,000 cases produced. It will be available for purchase online through the <a class="postlink" href="http://www.hip.com">www.hip.com</a> and in the winery’s onsite store.

I have drinking this beer from Unibroue for years. Definitely one of my favourites.

perhaps but on pei, i know me and the wife were discussing getting some, bob mccown said they may try to sell it at upcoming shows ?!?!
