The Oils just released a 2-disc greatest hits collection, and they sat down for an interview yesterday with Radio National Australia (their version of the CBC). Some really interesting stuff in this interview, and some cool stories from their early days touring the Aussie pub circuit in the late 70s and early 80s. Also, they hint at the possibility of more live shows in the future. I'd love for these guys to put out a new record and tour again. One of my favorite bands of all time.

I guess not... They are a band that I guess were slightly before my time, which has never stopped me from liking a ton of other bands in the same category, but for whatever reason I have just never listened to. I think I'm going to give them a serious listen in the coming days.

I guess I kinda grew up with their music in the 80s and early 90s. Being lucky enough to see them live with the Hip on the '93 ARA tour definitely helped elevate them to the top of my list. Such a powerful live show. At that time there weren't too many bands who could top them in terms of pure energy. Hell, as recently as 2009 they were still rocking harder than most bands half their age:
