Saw the clips on HNIC this evening. Must say that I have major respect for the guys who salvaged that wreckage even if i dislike the Leafs. Its an important piece of history that should be cherished even if the story has a bad ending.

I'm a fan of hockey, not a Leaf - but as I'm a hockey fan I respect the hertitage of the blue and white.

Apologizes in advance if this comes across as insensitive, not intentional, but why is pulling this wreckage out of historical significance and why now?

With all due respect to the families of Barilko and Hudson, but many have lost their lives flying in the North and the men who received the distinguished honour of earning a Fifty Mission Cap I'm sure saw many a wreck, those of their buddies and countrymen, they'd have loved to salvage.

To me, there would be far more significance and effect seeing the wreck in it's sacred resting place...charge people to go on the expedition to the site.

This would help preserve the spot for newcomers to visit as well as fund the future educational value of this particular story.

My thought is there would be some idiot out there knowing the significance with the song the history behind Bill's goal and all, of having a piece of the wreckage would try make a quick buck off it somehow, I think they're doing the right thing.
