Hey All,
As most of you probably dont know, I work for a national adult recreational hockey association. Every now and then (now being one of them) I am asked to write a blog for our company relating somehow to hockey. The rest is up to me. So I figured lets make it fun and lets get some hip in there and their fans.
So here you go, I am asking everyone what their top 5 favorite hip songs are that have some sort of hockey relation in the lyrics or meaning. Not ones that just sound good at games, but ones that actually have some hockey reference let it be 3 words or the whole beast. The best answer for the top 5 songs I choose will get in blog with their username.
I am hoping there are more than 5 that is. Quickly off top of head all I can think of is: 50 mission, fireworks, lonely, 700ft, heaven is a better.
Go!

I would have to say any 5 songs off Fully Completly BECAUSE. I was listening to that album about 10 times a day back in 93 and the Leafs were makin a run for the cup at the same time with Gilmore. I remember at the time hearing that the team used to listen to that entire CD in the dressing room before games. It would be just playing loud for them to hear, So that entire CD has a hockey connection for me. Ahhhh 93 the good old days of good leafs teams, roadside attracitons, other great canadian bands too , the tea party, the odds, junkhouse, way to many to name, what has happened? Not hardly a good crop anymore.

I remember too, during the '93 run, The Hip wrote an awesome good luck letter to the Leafs that the Toronto Sun published!

Ahh...nice topic!
Back in 92 / 93, I had 3 Hip tunes put into our rotation for the warm-up for our NCAA hockey squad...turned all the hockey team into hip fans and the fans that came for the warm up were always treated to Little Bones, Blow and NOIS. Also, there would always be a Canadian or two on our opponents team, and you can always see them looking around and singing during the pre game skate.
I would add Meridian and Locked to complete the 5...that came out while I was still skating down there...a friend from Montreal who was also on the team and I drove to Manchester, New Hampshire the day FC came out and then raced back to our dorm room to blare it, at like volume 11 for all to hear...air guitaring with hockey sticks, toques and ski boots on is something I will always remember; and the looks of all the yanks down there wondering who the f#ck these crazy Canuck hockey players were... (no idea why the ski boots came on...must have been the willy nelson
link me on the blog when you get it completed and cheers!
