I'm going through Hip withdrawal - Escape@Hand - 09-19-2010

I'm starting to jones for a Hip concert. Haven't seen a show in a year now and it's starting to wear on me :x I really hope they wrap up their solo/side project stuff and get back to work on a new album and tour :thumb:

I'm starting to miss them too. I actually haven't listened to any Hip all summer, which is strange since I never used to go a day without throwing on at least one of their albums. Lately I've just been obsessed with other things. Sarah Harmer's new record has gotten plenty of play in my house and in my car over the summer. Also the National, the Sadies, Drive-By Truckers, Arcade Fire, Pearl Jam, and my rediscovery of the entire U2 catalogue. Of course "The Grand Bounce" has also been in constant rotation, so I guess that's somewhat Hip related. I'm perfectly ok if the boys want to take their time with the next album. Disappear for a while and then come back and blow our minds. And for the love of all things good and pure, get a different producer for the next one. Chris Walla, anyone?

I was thinking the same thing recently. I put several shows on one USB memory stick and have it in my vehicle. I put it on shuffle and get a wide variety of era's and songs..... Miss the HIP!!!

I am just going to go ahead and say it.

This is bullshit! I don't care how good the solo stuff is, it's not the Hip. None of us are getting any younger and it sucks knowing we are looking at years between albums. How long can they putter around the house pissing off their wives?

Completely agree, Daniel Lanois would be an interesting change.

In a recent radio interview, Downie hinted that he'd like Gord Sinclair to produce the next Hip record. Something about "keeping it in the family". The idea came from working with Chris Walla. He mentioned how impressed he was that Walla not only plays guitar in Death Cab For Cutie, but that he's also produced, recorded, and mixed most of their albums.

Well I hope it turns out better than Henhouse, if this is the case, because that is not a great sounding album. Some great songs, but the production was a bit weak at times.

Agreed. Although I really like Sinclair's work with the Spades. Both of those albums sound great.

Interesting choice. It would certainly end up being the most low-fi "garage-rock" sounding album of the Hip's career if they went with Endino. I'd be ok with that.
