Lots of Dave Matthwes haters in here, I realize that, but anyways, I just got a text from a pal of mine who heard that Dave Matthews might possibly be playing the Nashville North tent tomorrow night. Doesn't seem like that can possibly be true but who the hell knows?? According to the DMB site they have no date that night but are playing a P.A. show on Friday.
Anyone in Calgary hear this rumour?

It's probably a Dave Matthews impersonator. Remember "Shania Twin" from a few years back? Sadly, the Stampede has now become the place where god-awful bands come to play every summer. Don't even get me started on the horrendous line-up at this year's Coca-Cola stage (Theory of a Deadman, Default, Three Days Grace, etc...). Not to mention Kid Rock at the Saddledome. It's absolutely vomit-inducing. I think the last decent act to play Stampede was Sam Roberts, and that was about 5 years ago.
The summer concert season in Calgary is brutal this year. The Stampede sucks hard, and despite Michael Franti and The Swell Season, the line-up for this year's Calgary Folkfest is pretty weak compared to past years. September is looking much better though with upcoming shows by Sarah Harmer, Cuff the Duke, Los Lobos, and Gord Downie.

I hear ya about Calgary and concerts. My wife and I got tickets to Van Morrison in Edmonton for their folk festival in August. There is no other artist I would rather see than him...hopefully he puts on a good show and isn't an ornery old bastard like I have heard he can be.

Secret act was Big Sugar BTW, and by all accounts it was not bad. Better than anyone at the Coke stage for sure
