European dates: An Evening With? - alan - 10-07-2009

Anybody have any idea whether the Hip's European dates will be the long format? Having moved to Belgium I will miss the entire North American tour and I would hate to miss out on the long shows....

My guess is they will be doing the "Evening With..." formats (i.e. with intermission) at reserved seating venues only. General admission gigs would not make that format very practical. Either way you should get an acoustic 3 song segment in the middle. Enjoy, you are in for a treat!

They have played GA venues this tour.

I don't know what a laser cat is -- I'm way behind on my North American cultural references since moving overseas. I think my avatar is just a cat with a melon husk on its head....

The 930 show in DC was general admission and was a fantastic 2 set show. Be familiar with "We Are The Same", and have a great time.

It looks like the first two shows in Europe have been the 'Evening with...' format (thankfully). It was great when they did that in San Francisco. Now I just have to cross my fingers that they start playing the acoustic version of 'The Bear' again. I'd love to hear that!

For the first time we had a double set evening.
That what made me so jealous about al the fans in Canada and the USA.
Gordon was fantastic and we had so far two superb shows.
And a lot of old and partly forgotten songs.
Tomorrow in Tivoli (great venue) and friday the last in Paradiso.

you're spot on king lear, i never thought i would see the hip play the double set (with the acoustic songs) as do in Canada, but tonight at Tivoli (Gordon Downie "i build this place you know?) there it was, in the long grass.....fantastic
