Re: Hip play Edelweiss??? - thebends - 10-01-2009

I was curious and googled it ...

""Edelweiss" is a show tune from the 1959 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music. It is named after the edelweiss, a white flower found high in the Alpine hills. The song is sung by Captain Georg Ludwig von Trapp as he rediscovers music and a love for his children. Later on in the show it is sung as a defiant statement of Austrian patriotism by the von Trapp family in the face of the pressure put upon Captain von Trapp to join the navy of Nazi Germany."

I know I have a recording where Gord sings Eidelweiss and white christmas as a part of either Emperor penguin or on the verge I cant remember which. Same show he also does a snippet of Wings 'Jet'. So it's possible.

How can anyone forget the mighty Modjeska show from 1998? :thumb: (Not that I think it has anything to do with the weird setlist issue this thread started with.)

Edelweiss: Austrian tune made famous in "The Sound of Music". Gord has entertained the crowd with it more than once. (FC Tours)

this was on the hipmuseum
