Front Row at Theatre Shows - thebends - 09-28-2009
I'm curious if the front row(s) at the theatre shows are allowed to lean up against the stage or is there a line of security preventing you from doing this? Looking at the posted videos it looks like a bit of both. We're in row BB for one of the Hamilton shows and I'm wondering what our chances of getting a piece of the stage are.

No need really. Just wondering if this is whats happening during the shows or if people are sticking to their seats.

Last night in Ottawa people stuck to their seats, and lots of security in the front area -- middle of the first set security came and told people in the front they could move right up to the stage, maybe to create a better path for them when they needed to follow Gord into the crowd.

Saturday nights show was "stand all night" so the front row was edged up against the stage front. BTW - some excellent videos on youtube from Saturday night. Footage of Gord in the audience during Courage and the young girl in the first row strumming on Gord guitar. Cool.

Was at the Sept 24 show in Calgary front row between Gord and Gord right up against the stage.
It was our first time front row at a Hip show so I wouldn't have been
too happy with people trying to squeeze up from other rows..I was glad no one did.
We had a blast up there - lots of interaction with the boys and were
rewarded with a drumstick directly from Johnny, a couple of picks
from Bobby and my wife got the last hankey of the nite from Gord..not to mention being the
best Hip show I've seen. Front row is a great way to see the Hip

Hamilton place is kinda strange in that there are only 12 seats in row AA, however, the stage is considerably wider.

Look out its cpt. Canada :lol: Way too 90s dude.So much easier being quick to type at 10:00am then it was charging through thousands to get to the front all loaded up :thumb:

My original question was specific to this venue ... the seat configuration up front is kinda unique at Hamilton Place and would allow for the first couple of rows to make it up to the stage; if its encouraged by security. I understand where the "dick" comment comes from, but it is a bit of a generalization. We've never taken space at a Hip show (or any other concert for that matter) at the expense of someone who deserves it, on the contrary when up front I've often encouraged shorter people, kids, newbies, etc... to get ahead of us.

As a guy who brings recording gear to a show I'm not one who moves about very much.
