And Im thinking just in passing....... - VioletLite - 04-09-2009

That "The Depression Suite" may well be one of the best songs of all time.

Re: And Im thinking just in passing....... - Graham - 04-09-2009

That line reminds me of a Gordon Lightfoot tune and I can't remember which one.

since the second i heard it i became convinced its going to be the most insane concert song because its so long and rant-able for gord. itll become an instant live classic

You have no idea how much I fucking agree. One of the best they've ever written AT THE VERY LEAST. This song live will slay. Did they play it on Live and Intimate from the Bathouse?

I think this song is in my top 3 of all time...with scared and another midnight

This song is absolutely amazing, I can't believe how a 9+ minute song can sound like a 4 minute song...this song sounded amazing at the bathouse and I cant wait to hear it ive at every show I go to!

So now that this is confirmed, I really need to see the Bathouse special. DVD or just digital download or Betamax... I don't give a shit. I just need to see it.

It seems a waste for it to just be a one time broadcast. Multiple cameras, multiple audio sources, HD, etc, etc... free DVD download from the web, official torrent distribution like NIN did with their HD concert footage and last album, something has to come of it.

NIN is not attached to a major label.

So?

Are you saying that major labels are fucked? Out to lunch, and out of touch with the reality of todays market? That there's no way that a band on a major label could do something as "hip" as what NIN did??? Smile

I sure hope that's not the case as evidenced by Live and intimate from The Bathouse.

I'm saying we won't get anything for free, is all.

I know... I was agreeing with you, but I guess it got lost in my ranting.

Love the song!

The break where the tempo changes and Gord goes into the lyrics "Bring on the requisite strangeness"............it really reminds me of some other song, I just can't quite remember what song..........

We can always hope. The Hip have the same label as for IVL and we got 3 free tracks with that one.

Couldn't agree more. Great thread title btw.

As for the Bathouse show, I think we will see that on dvd at some point. I think they realize what an accomplishment it was and how special it was. Anybody who didn't see it has sorely missed one of the most unique moments in the bands history. Now thats a bold statement lol.
