Match-up #25 - Vapour Trails Vs. Goodnight Josephine
Listen to the two songs in the match-up Back to Back, and consider the lyrics of the song. Feel free to post an unbiased analysis of both songs in this thread, but please refrain from cheerleading or making predictions for your favourites.

First tough one for me.

Re: Match Up - #25 - PatrickTheLion - 04-09-2009

I did each song justice and listened to them live and in studio and made my decision. Very evenly matched round, but then again, I thought last round would be a blow out...

Josephine is top 5 for me. That last verse is simply stellar. Downie at his best.

Ya, I agree with that! IBE is an underrated album, but top 3:
1. Josephine
2. Makeshift
3. Gus

Without Vapour Trails Phantom Power would not exist -- VT holds the entire album together

slightly exaggerating for effect

I happen to disagree. VT is great, but it is not the glue. For me, the entire album has a great flow to it and VT certainly adds to it. However, I wouldn't want to take one song off of it...and Chagrin Falls, Escape and Emperor is such a great way to end and album imo...
