Can anyone identify Rob Baker's guitar from the Bathouse? - pprusha - 04-07-2009

Hi everyone, this is my first post. What an awesome LIVE show from the Bathouse tonight. When they played My Music @ Work tonight, Rob was playing a very sweet acoustic. Was it a Yamaha L-series mini-jumbo? It was hard to tell, I don't think they ever showed the headstock. I'll apologize in advance, I'm a guitar freak.

Anyhow, what a show. It converted my wife to a Hip fan. For that I am truly blessed Smile

I believe the guitar was indeed a White Gretsch Falcon. Depending on what year, condition, these run in the $2,500 to $3,500 range! Very cool guitar (I have the cheaper gretsch 5120 model in Black)... :thumb:

No idea on the Yamaha, but I think the one he played on Thompson Girl was a Custom Made guitar... It looked SWEET and sounded GREAT!

Hey Jimmy, yeah, I think he changed guitars from Thompson Girl to Music@Work. In one of those songs, I had a good look at the fretboard inlay and the odd shaped bridge. I believe it could've been this Yamaha:

On the topic of guitars, Paul played an unusual 12-string a few times, looked like it had a Koa top. I couldn't catch the name on the headstock though. It sounded awesome.

I think you nailed the Yamaha.That looks like it.... and I agree... Paul's 12 string sounded AWESOME... the head stock looked familiar, but I can't place the make...

The 12 string guitar was a Garrison. Many of the guys bought them a few years back. Man it sure sounded sweet. Not sure of the model or anything. I understand Garrison was recently purchased by Gibson so the ones the Hip are playing date before that.

I think you can see a good picture of it on The Hip web site on the opening page... slide 8... SWEET!
