Official Queen of the Furrows Appreciation Thread - longseason - 03-27-2009
As mentioned in other threads, this song is the bitch of the ditch, man. So solid.
Is 'Queen of the Furrows' about harvesting buds under cover of night?
In Toronto, yelled the Queen of the Furrows, this is how we farm... ... in the night fields, in the torch's yellow, I make my way by feel by my neighbour's glow ... this is how I farm, eyes up... and ears down low
And then afterwards, obligatory munchies —
watch yourself, I say to my toasted western...
Fuck it, I'm having a toasted western tomorrow morning!

I LOVE this song. Right now it's neck-and-neck with The Last Recluse as my favorite song on the record. I just love when the drums kick in during the 2nd verse and when Robby rips it up with that kick-ass solo. Gord's lyrics are fuckin' brilliant on this tune.

Agreed. Right now, this song is the best song on the cd. As mentioned above "the bitch of the ditch...".. It all works, lyrics, music, melody..

The more I listen to this, the more I see this being an opener for the tour...seeing this open up at massey is going to be unreal. The pounding drums and loud guitars would be amazing to start the show off! :thumb:

I agree totally. I have to be honest this was not the 1st song that grabbed me from this album. But, I listened to it 3x on the way to work and I would love to hear this open for the show I'm going to @ Massey Hall :thumb:
May 15th I can't wait. Massey Hall is a great place to see a concert !

Like you, I'm also am finding Recluse to be at the top of my WATS list. Seems that you and I have very similar musical tastes. We favor the same Hip tumes, I mirror your thoughts on Kathleen Edwards and Tom Waits, etc, etc,....
