I posted an Obama v McCain poll on the main page of thehiptracker.com and so far it's a landslide for Obama...
It'll be interesting to see if these informal polls are indicative of the actual election results.

While Obama certainly has a fairly wide lead in the national polls, it should be noted that the Liberal party of Canada had a fairly wide in a similar Hipbase Canadian poll, and that didn't quite pan out. Perhaps this isn't an appropriate sample.

I'm going out on a limb here and say you are absolutely correct in that this isn't an "accurate" sample.
I'm guessing that the 5 out of 44 who actually selected "McCain" in this poll are not Canadian.

Mccain and Obama don't deserve a single vote as far as I'm concerned.
I wouldn't vote for any of them. It's time for people to stop voting for the "lesser of two (or more) evils" in elections. I get a good laugh at all the skank celebs getting on television and saying, "VOTE OR DIE" or whatever the hell those jackasses go on with, trying to scare people into voting or something.
cratch: A non-vote is every bit as important as a vote. A non-vote is a message that none of the morons are fit to serve, and I wish the media would stop spreading the message that not voting is a bad thing. Not voting is every bit as much a part of the democratic process as voting for someone. You should only vote for someone you believe in, shouldn't you? That makes sense to me.

It's not like refusing to vote will prevent all of the candidates from becoming the next President, will it?
No.
One of them will, and if there isn't a candidate I "believe in", I certainly am going to use my vote to try to prevent the ones I "believe in" least from running my country.

Actually, I agree with Tiger. Not on this specific election, but that there's a sound rationale for not voting.

The only rationale I can think of for not voting altogether is if, after evaluating and comparing / contrasting the candidates, you are left with absolutely ZERO preference whatsoever for any one over another.
This will be my 4th opportunity to vote for President of the United States. And this is the 4th time where I find that I do not have much confidence in any of the candidates.
Yet this is the 4th time where there are candidates on the ballot who are a far worse option than another according to my particular interests. So this will be the 4th time where I use my vote to attempt to prevent those "far worse options" from winning.
As poor as the options have been since I've been able to vote for president, I cannot fathom how they could be DEAD EQUAL in terms of a lack of preference on my part.

tommygunn: nice sentiment, but do you know what it costs to run for office? Not really a viable option if you don't like the choices.
