Judging from the voter registration shenanigans from the Ohio Secretary of State, I wouldn't be too surprised if some votes counted in this election came from dead people or whatnot.

That's okay, skippy. I don't think Obama is going to need my vote. Good ol' ACORN is hooking him up.

If any of you are worried if ACORN can deliver Obama the votes he needs here in Ohio, just come participate our Open-Door Voter Registration Program, sanctioned by the Ohio Secretary of State. All you need to do is whip up a facsimile of a phone bill statement with your name on it, and you can stop into any county election office, register, and cast your Obama vote via absentee ballot.

It's that easy!

The economy is crashing and all you can do is spread lies.

For those who are unfamiliar with this particular piece of propaganda I'll give a brief reality check on the subject.

ACORN registers low income people to vote. Republicans hate low income people and don't think they should vote. Bush ordered his Attorney General to force his prosecutors to bring voter fraud cases against ACORN. Upon investigation it was proven that ACORN did not violate any laws. Bush ordered them trump up false charges. The attorneys refused. Bush had them all fired.

ACORN is required by law to return every registration form they acquire for voter registration drives. Names like Mike Hunt, Dick Hurts and other fake names are often used by people. ACORN verify every form by address and phone number and sets all the fake ones aside. The law requires them to return all forms to the government. ACORN returns all valid and invalid registration forms as required. They fake ones are brought to the attention of the appropriate authorities. End of story.

The voter registration drives, at least as they're advertised in Ohio, do claim that all you need is a phone bill (or other "official" mailing with name and address I use the term official quite loosely, seeing as you can sign up for a myriad of services with whatever address you damn well please). I'm troubled by this for a number of reasons. 1) It takes advantage of those who are ill-informed and ill-educated in a highly underhanded way. 2) It doesn't do much good in terms of bolstering the democratic party. Now, I've always stood for a number of liberal ideals, including programs to help the less-fortunate, voter-education and general reform, in terms of how the party works toward speaking for those who are often silenced. Sketchy practices do nothing but HARM such a goal. 3) The practices also seem to not simply want people to register to vote, but to secure as many votes for a specific party as possible. The selective giving of information does not equate to true democracy.

Additionally, I hate Bush too, but he really has no place in this argument. Get your panties in a twist over something else, that actually has a valid point.

Jenna, I respect you but you are wrong.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was forced to resign due to his involvement in "Prosecutor Gate". The very issue at the core of that scandal was ACORN.

This is not about my dislike of Bush. This is about the truth.

Esthete: you can't make this argument.

Sorry, but the way you've discounted all reports of problems in the past two elections disqualifies you from complaining that Obama's election victory was rigged until at least one month after said election victory occurs. Following your complaint, everyone gets to mock you savagely for a period of six (6) weeks, and deride you in public for twelve (12) weeks following that period.

Them's the rules.

In all seriousness, I argued that your entire electoral system is in need of reform last time around. I don't recall that you had much sympathy for that argument, so long as your side was winning.
