Little Bones on Canadian Idol - Hammer - 08-11-2008

Anyone else happen to catch a glimpse of this?

I just got home and my TV channels are VERY limited (As in, CTV is the only one that comes in clear enough to watch)

The end of Canadian Idol is on and they were showing little clips of everyone's performances for the night and here is one guy singing Little Bones!

From what I heard it wasn't very good at all, but i'm interested in looking it up on Youtube later and seeing it in its entirety just to see what the judges have to say, even if he butchered the song lol.

------
Edit: I did do a search on here to see if anyone else mentioned it, nothing came up... So i'm sorry if it's a repost :-p

Don't bother looking it up. He botched it badstyle, and the judges all praised it as being "unique". Why the hell somebody would attempt a song like Little Bones is beyond me. My ma called me down to watch it when she heard the next person was doing a Hip tune, when I started watching they were judging the last person and the girl said "I think Joel Plaskett would have been very proud of that", anyone know what plaskett tune they were doing?

In all honesty, I don't think Earl did too bad of a job on Little Bones.........he gave it a little bit of a spin and didn't try to imitate Gord at all (which is the downfall of most), just his own style.......it wasn't great, but it wasn't all that bad either........IMO......

I'm a big fan of Earl. I thought it was an odd song choice for him. . . though

In my opinion, this season has been the best of any Canadian or American Idol season. The inclusion of instruments really changed the competition, for the better.

We like Earl, but our money is riding on Mitch.

Ya, I have been a fan of Earl since his audition, although his past couple of weeks have not been stellar, just ok. I think his best was when he did All Along The Watchtower. I did read a funny comment where someone described him as "it looks like he is looking for his keys on stage when he performs"........

This definitely has been the best season, not sure who is going to take it. Al of them seem to be on the same level, good, but just missing that certain "something". But you are right, Mitch will probably win it

No way. Mitch is just annoying. My money is on Mookie. He was great last night. . . I thought

Re: Little Bones on Canadian Idol - Gortron - 08-12-2008

I liked some parts.

I noticed the bass player from Mike Bullard was playing, what is his name again?

Also, who is the guy who said he was in the studio when the song was recorded? His name escapes me.

Orin Isaacs is the band leader, and bassist.

Jake Gold is the judge and former manager of The Hip.

WELL!!! For all of you that have an eating disorder, watch this clip, you will throw up for the rest of the day like I did! I see some of you have a bias because you like the show. I am a fan of American Idol. But.... See, this is why Canadian IDOL is the worst show in the history of humanity. This also proves that the judges just say the opposite of reality because they're in on the joke that is this show. This cultural phenomena. I've seen/heard better kareoki at bars in Smiths Falls!! Smiths Falls!!! OK, I got to go puke some more. BRUTAL!! I hope Earl wins, that would be comedic. And then I'm gonna go listen to Little Bones by the HIP!

Re: Little Bones on Canadian Idol - opiated - 08-12-2008

that is a pile of crap..what a joke of a show..

really?? This passes for talent???

And don't the Hip have to give permission to allow their songs to be played??? This does not make me happy

If it's like recording someone else's song, permission is not needed - just have to fill our the right paperwork and pay a fee.

Re: Little Bones on Canadian Idol - clarke - 08-12-2008

first of all, why wouldnt the hip want their music on this show? it introduces them to a national demographic that might not listen to them...you arent happy because other people like performing the hip's music?...secondly why would anyone want to hear someone try to do their best "gord" on a hip song...its about interpretation...obviously no one is going play the hip better than the hip, so why try...i dont want to hear anyone try to be the hip i want them to put their own stamp on it...this guy isnt the greatest singer and didnt do the greatest job on the song but it was his own interpretation of the tune which is always going to be better than someone trying to be gord
