It seems the hip rarely use any songs post PP in concert, except on specific album tours. For example, how many times have Lake Fever, Mean Streak, or the Dark Canuk been heard? I'd really like to see WC stay around and have these thrown into the mix for the next tour...

With so many songs to pick from its impossible to satisfy everyone, of course the new material will be forefront with a new album. That said one way to get around that and what Id like to see the band do is play multiple shows in a smaller venues, rather than one-offs in the big arena, you get more music that way. Or they could just play longer sets, but its really up to the band and what they want to do, and if they have opening acts to consider.
Of course, they can play whatever they like Ill still go regardless of what might or might not get played, lets face it were spoiled. And I agree WC has some great live songs..ocean, rink..family band..those should be keepers.

I have a feeling (no reason really just a feeling) that we'll be hearing more of WC especially compared to other post-Y2K songs...

lake fever was in heavy rotation when they were supporting PP but those other 2 songs suck. so they can stay off the setlist

As much as I like World Container, I'd be surprised if it wasn't the same 1 or 2 songs showing up on next tour's setlist.
You really can't blame the Hip. They have such a huge catalogue and I'm afraid with each new album comes an even more predictable setlist.
Next tour's setlist will probably look something like this:

2.NOIS
3.Fully Completely
4.Family Band or In View
5.New Song
6.IAGLIYDW or Giftshop
7.ABAC
8.New Song
9.Ocean or Springtime
10.Courage or Locked
11.Surprise Gem (insert your favourite song)
12.New Song
13.Meridian
14.BobC
15.Poets or M@W
16.New Song
17.Fireworks
18.Blow
Encore
19.New Song
20.Grace or Nautical
21.Little Bones or Verge
If you happen to get a song like Escape, Lake Fever or Gus consider yourself lucky. If you get Emperor Penguin, Cordelia or IOD consider it a miracle. If you get The Completists, Throwing Off Glass or Fight you've actually died and gone to heaven.

I can't wait to see The Hip at the Festival of Lights in Charlottetown next month. When they play the same festival 2 years ago, songs 5-8 were "lake fever", "daredevil", "lionized", "sherpa"...and then they also played "the dire wolf", "the last of the unplucked gems", "fire in the hole", "nashville", "something on", etc. etc.
Looking forward to hearing what they play this time around!

Charlottetown certainly got an amazing setlist that year. I believe the Hip even opened with Blow which is pretty unusual.
I hope they continue to keep many of those gems in the lineup but as we all know, no matter what songs they perform, the Hip never seem to disappoint.

They have a large catalog, and a lot of concert-goers are most familiar with their pre M@W material. They're in the business of pleasing the audience.
Thus, setlists weighted in favour of pre M@W stuff, and whatever album they happen to be touring to promote. The singles from M@W still seem to show up, though -- that was the last album before popular taste wrote them off.
