Match-up #25 - Boots or Hearts Vs. World Container
Listen to the two songs in the match-up Back to Back, and consider the lyrics of the song. Feel free to post an unbiased analysis of
both songs in this thread, but please
refrain from cheerleading or
making predictions for your favourites.

The album version of Boots or Hearts has never really done it for me. I think it's the shitty slide solo (no offence Paul). World Container, on the other hand, has always done it for me.
If we were talking live versions this would have required a lot more thought.

Both songs are impossible to unstick from your head.

Wow, I love the Boots or Hearts studio version. And I think World Container is a much better song live, less bells and whistles, it sounds better as a guitar ballad IMO.

I'm surprised this is such a close match up so far.
But I guess I'm a little biased to the song that is my first clear memory of the Hip- my dad cranking Boots or Hearts on the highway and "...41 if you include the fact that we don't care" just sticking with me.

World Container for me! A beautiful, sweeping, epic ending to the album.
It's great live as well.

Live vs. studio changes this one for me as well. But I have such fond memories of Boots that it gets the nod.

Both songs are so much better live. I would love you hear a 5-piece studio version of WC. Maybe even acoustic.
Oh... how I wish the Hip would more studio B-side/acoustics.
