I went to my first "gay bar" last night. -

Normally I don't go out on weekdays. My friend Dill convinced me to join him and some friends for a battle of the bands. I was kindof hesitant, not because of the location...just because it was a weeknight.
So the premise is Bands play their music, and they can win prizes after spinning a wheel. I figured it could be decent for some music, and it wouldnt be weird or anything, because its a Monday night, and it wont be busy anyways.
So we pay our two buck cover. We walk in.
I look at the stage and my jaw drops.
I kid you not. Wintersleep.
They were playing R. Kelly covers.
I kid you not.
Wow. What an experience. There were maybe 20 people there, along with the other bands.
What a weird experience. Wintersleep.
And if I'm posting this, I know I'm opening myself up to a ton of jokes at my expense. But who cares. Even without Wintersleep, it was a great time.

I think we need pictures or a drug test.

I don't have pictures, and I only had two beers last night.
They weren't there with any of their fancy equipment.
I actually think they were using another bands stuff... as if they just went out for the night to this mini Battle of the Bands and then said, fuck it lets go on stage.
I was there only for about 4 songs. Apparently they played half a dozen.
You can hook me up to a polygraph or anything. I swears by it!

I woke up this morning with an email from my bud Dave holmes that said did you guys play a battle of the bands last night? I was like how the fuck do you know that., considering he's in hamilton, and we are in halifax., ah shit

A band. They opened for The Hip on many shows during the last tour, and have developed a strong following among some Hipbasers: www.wintersleep.com

See, I'm not crazy!
And I didn't post that either.
It was a bizarre/awesome experience to say the least.

Wait wait wait, slow down. This is all very hard to believe; let's start from the beginning. You have a friend named Dill?!?

Wintersleep playing R Kelly covers in a gay bar...that's awesomely random. I wonder what songs they did.
