New American Fans - twistmyarm - 11-25-2007

So, the Hip have spent months and months touring the States. We all know that with maybe a few exceptions, their American shows are composed of mostly Canadian fans. However, I'm wondering how many brand new fans they've gained as a result of this tour. Or maybe not necessarily new fans, perhaps Americans who were casual fans of the Hip who are now more dedicated fans as a result of seeing them in concert.

I've been a Hip fan for many years, however I didn't get to see them in concert until this tour. And now it's pretty much guaranteed that I will be at future shows as long as money and time allow it

Maybe you brought a friend to a show who hadn't heard of them before and now they're into them. Or maybe you've talked to some Americans at a show who'd never seen them before and were really impressed with them. There's no way of getting an accurate count or anything, I'm just curious as to any stories people have.

I took a few buddies to the first of two shows here in Detroit this year (april). They had seen the hip on the IBE tour in Toledo and were somewhat impressed but not blown away (with the Toledo show). I did the usual thing by telling them what songs to be familier with and listen to...etc, and darn it anyways don't you know the Hip played one of the most varied set list of the tour! My buddies loved them! Even though they didnt know but maybe half of the songs, they did indeed dig them and are now fans....
