This week on the airwaves - Saturday, November 17th:
Gord Downie is best known for his work with the Tragically Hip, but for Fuse he’s willing to branch out on his own. And the psychedelic country sounds of The Sadies are playing the part of backup band. With a little poetry from Gord, and a lot impeccable Sadies riffs, it’s sure to a be an organic Fuse of essential Canadiana.

Saturdays at 3:00 p.m. (3:30 p.m. NT) on CBC Radio One
Saturdays at 6:00 a.m. ET and 1:00 p.m. ET on Sirius Satellite 137

Just got back from the taping of this show tonight...it was fantastic...about 100 people there and the music was great...2 Sadies songs, 1 Hip song, 1 Gord solo song and if I recall right...5 incredible covers, hopefully all the music makes the final show...they also ended up playing 2 of the songs twice, should be interesting to hear which one they use...love to say more, but that would spoil the surprise.

I like how you're teasing us...can you at least tell us what solo song they did?

Gord solo song was Figment...it comes right after a Guided By Voices cover without a pause...it should start the show, if the final recording follows the same setlist...I hope that helps...as for the surprise, I guess its not much of a surprise as it is more of an interesting choice of cover songs.

We are pretty lucky around here that we have so many great people to count on!!

Unlike last time they were on Sirius and everyone forgot - and as far as I know, no one recorded it.
That channel does not stream online so I am going to try and capture it myself Saturday - try is the main word there.

Here's a sneak preview for everybody to enjoy. But before I do so, just a confirmation as to whether this is OK to do, seeing as it has not yet been released and there is obviously no video portion. Anyone???

Besides that, thanks to my good friend Flame N' Co winning tickets, I was able to join him for this unique occasion. Gord and the Sadies were simply put 'tight' Great mix of music and an interesting version of Fire in the Hole with a dark, twangy, country Sadies twist to the Hip original.

little off topic here but for those who don't know, on CBC radio3 you can find 3 in session Sadies performances and a cool Rheostatics gig from Massey Hall.
