Basically, the tracker was hacked by some loser who doesn't like the Hip, and is not a fan of music.

It's a step by step process in the tracker's rebuilding now.

i dont personally visit the hiptracker site very often but why the f---- would someone find the need too destroy something that someone worked so long and hard for..
good luck too whoever is getting the site back up and bah humbug too the loser/s that need too find something more productive too do
then screw with other people.
now as i write this i have a question and dont know if anyone has a answer too this but is a web site owned by the person who runs it ?with that said, can you track a person and charge them with tresspassing or theft of for causing damage??
they have rules regarding tampering with mail so is their any protection over a personal web site.??

I 'own' the domain name <a class="postlink" href="http://www.thehiptracker.com">www.thehiptracker.com</a>, and the server sits in my office... and through a donation from a generous fan, you could say that I own it.

As far as tracking down the culprit, and charging them goes... not likely as the severity of this hack in the grand scheme of things is minor, and the authorities required to participate in the prosecution of this offence would stretch from Toronto to the Czech Republic.

And to answer the question "Why?" I suppose that it is the same answer to why people commit any crime.
