Maybe this one will go down in HIPstory as the great mystery gig that nobody saw, and I'll bet the setlist went something like this:

I started to cry when I saw the first part of the setlist...until I realized it was a joke.

I feel better now.

Actually, I like that.
Closing with Fire and then opening the encore with Poets followed by Lake Fever.
Although I may be biased with Poets and Lake Fever being two of my favorites.

went to the show.....

relatively small crowd....
Gordie sounded the best, vocally, in a while....much better than in ATL in the spring....

up to his old tricks on stage; very animated....set list was really pretty good....they performed the songs a little longer than usual, hence fewer songs.....

only disappointment was that they didn't perform a "local cover"...place went berserk for nois.....

I was there! It was a great show. The HOB is an awesome venue. The show wasn't packed, but there was a decent-sized group there nonetheless. Some of the songs weren't my favourites, but hey, that didn't matter as far as I was concerned. Being basically right in the front, dead center, being able to see Gordie do his thing up close, experiencing the great energy of the crowd, I mean, doesn't get much better than that.

The boys were in top form, Gord looked great and had tons of energy.

Random funny moment of the show: There were a group of drunk kids around me (some were in the very front and I was immediately right behind them). One of them kept reaching out their 40oz bottle of Miller Lite for Gord to take. During one of the songs Gord kicked the bottle out of the kid's hand. After the song he's like, "Sorry, but I hate Miller Lite." Smile

The guy in the cowboy hat that sets up the Hip's gear, I forget his name, brought the kid a Corona instead. Pretty nice tradeoff!

There may actually be video out there somewhere. I started to take some video myself, but chickened out because I was afraid my camera would be taken away or something. But I know others near me were recording on their digital cameras as well, and after a while it didn't seem like the security cared very much about what was going on. I took a few pictures, they're not good, but I'll post a few if anyone is curious.

After the show a group of us patient fans were able to meet most of the band. They are all such great people. No photo with Gordie though for me, I was the last to say hello before his bodyguard seemed eager for him to get on the bus.

Met /encountered some great people at the show: guy from Montana, the couple from Toronto with family in Minneapolis, and even the group of rowdy drunk kids I was standing next to from Newfoundland; it was nice hanging out with you all Smile
