Gord's Best Cover song - tragicallyphish - 05-29-2007

Gotta givethe boys a big hand for trying so many different styles of music. Certain covers I think Gord has nailed other not so much. I think that his voice does really well on certain tones and styles.

I think every Bob Dylan song he has done really well. I also really like the version of 1979 that they do. Also the Band covers have been amazing. Probably my favorite so far, but that me have to do with my Band obsession.
I was also really impressed with Is This Love Marley Cover - don't think there would have been a better cover to play on 4/20.

I was really excited for some Beatles action, but felt Helter Skelter wasn't the best cover they have done. But I am still looking forward to hear Tax Man.

How do I put this without sounding confusing:
Gord has nailed some songs, although those songs aren't my favourite.

Papa's Got A Brand New Bag was/is SPECTACULAR.

My vote goes to "When the Man Comes Around". Gord's voice can pay tribute to Cash without being mocking or self-indulgent. Fabulous choice!!!

Yea, what balls it takes to whip up a different cover at soundcheck and play it 4 hours later!!! I really liked the idea of it all. I'm sure it kept things fresh and challenging for the band as well as us fans.


Off the top of my head:

Best: Bastards of Young, Cold Metal, Train in Vain, Come'on Everybody

Worst: Helter Skelter (train wreck beggining...lol), Wreck of the E F (although Im sure it was cool being at the show)

If it includes Gord's solo career, it's a really tough choice. Barstool Blues, Going Going Gone, Nobody 'Cept You, and When You Dance I Can Really Love are brilliant. As far as Hip covers go, I'd say It Makes No Difference, C'mon Everybody, and Black Day In July have been up there.

Barstool is probably my fav. But Roll Another Number was great, too.

Barstool is probably my fav. But Roll Another Number was great, too.

Absoutely. There are so many great covers that Gord did with the Country of Miracles.

Don't Worry Baby and Mr. Soul are two more great covers.
