I have one thing to say about the TV coverage of SARStock -

The Heron Outside - 07-31-2003
Even the radio got shafted...I barely heard anything from the show...after watching a few hours of MMM's haggard coverage, I tuned into the mighty Q hoping for something but alas, nothing. Anybody from the Hipbase at the show? Thoughts???

Bill is the Canadian version of Carson Daley...a rather massive tool.
The TV coverage was the biggest bait and switch scam out there. I would probably have gone in the afternoon with my buddies, but I said "No, no...I'll stay home, relax and watch it on MMM..." Riiiiight.
What a joke.
P.S. I used to like Annika Huber, now I hate her. "Oh look", she'd say, "It looks like Angus Young is getting naked, YOU"LL never know, but ooohhh I can look!"
Not that Angus Young getting naked does a whole heck of a lot for me but you know what I mean.

CANOE Poll
Who gave the best performance at SARS-Stock?
The Stones
AC/DC
Rush
Sam Roberts
The Guess Who
The Flaming Lips
None of these
I wouldn't know -- the TV coverage was brutal

That was the biggest bait and switch. Broadcasting live from the concert in my mind should be the actual concert. Not some tool of a vj talking about how great a time they're having actually watching the show.
I guess if they had told the truth instead of misleading people they wouldn't have gotten so many viewers. The truth being that the broadcast was going to be a bunch of vjs saying how much fun they were having while replaying shots from earlier.
The stones are great and all, but they are looking pretty haggared these days. They seem to me to be more about showmanship than the music. At least thats what I got from it. Mick's too busy running around from one end of the stage to the other to be able to belt out any lyrics.
I'm sure I would have a differnt opinion or perspective had I actually been there.

I was at the show, but was told that the CBC coverage was pretty good.

Hey Ryanc123,
How was it otherwise; the line-ups, parking, etc.? I bought tickets to go but we decided in the end to skip it for several reasons. Was it ok?

I was there. Had a decent spot beside the big light and sound tower about 100m out from the stage. We were 20 feet away from water and over a kilometre away from the washrooms. From where we were it was a solid 30 minute walk to food, beer, washrooms. No real walking paths for people near the front to get to the outskirts of the park where everything was located. Lineups for beer tickets were 1 hour, concession lineups were 2-3 hours long, about 200 people deep.
To put it simply, if you didn't move from your spot all day you probably had an awesome time. I missed The Guess Who's entire set because I had to go to the washroom.
Rush was great, at this point free water bottles were being thrown into the crowd which started a mini battle royale in my section.
AC/DC was unbelievable.
The Stones were great, but I'm not really a fan.
All in all a great concert, no real surprises. Timberlake and Angus Young each came out for a Stones song and that was it for surprises.
Sorry you guys couldn't watch it on t.v.

Yeah, i had a great time, i was able to take one water / washroom break all day (during "JT's set) because once you got a good spot you didn't want to move.
All the bands were good, acdc, and the stones were great. I was extremely impressed with the flaming lips, they were so original and energetic, wish they had a longer set though, looked like they were just getting into it.
Parking ended up being no problem at all, parked at a school in the jane/finch area, easy walk there and back, i was surprised.
Overall it was a great experience.
