Blind Melon - Daryl24 - 03-27-2007

Well over the past couple months i've been really liking blind melon. heard no rain and change over the years on the radio and all, but didn't know it was by blind melon and really paid no attention to them. Just two months ago i heard tones of home for the first time and thought it was a very good song. So i downloaded a few of thier songs.

I really like holy man, mouth full of cavities i love the acoustics on that one. I've also heard walk, dump truck, i wonder, deserted,drive,galaxy, soul one, the pusher.

I also heard three is a magic number, but seems kinda wierd lol. I know i am about 15 years to late but i am really enjoying their mellow harmony style. I am thinking about getting their discography.

Anyone have any opinions on blind melon and which album to start with?

Also anyone know what the band member are doing these days? it's a shame shannon died... he had very good lyrics.

Blind Melon are up there with my favorite all time bands. Everything they have released has been phenomenal. They only put out 2 albums while Shannon was alive, "Blind Melon" and "Soup". Both are stellar albums that deserve nothing but heaps of praise. After Shannon died they released "Nico", which was a bunch of unreleased material. It is also fantastic. Apparantly they put something else out a few years ago but I don't know the details...I actually think it was a greatest hits.

All I can say is get the 3 albums I mentioned and listen to them a lot. If you have been impressed thus far, it will only get better. Oh yeah, take a look at the video "Letters From A Porcupine" it's a must see as well.

After the death of Shannon from a heart attack(No drugs involved) two of the guys from Blind Mellon got together with the original drummer from Pearl Jam and a dude named Chris Shinn. They formed a band called Unified Theory. They were out of Seattle/L.A and recorded one EP and one album before they broke up. I was able to see them live four or five times and let me tell ya they were one of the best I have ever seen. They broke up after the first album but rumors about a new album surface every now and again.

Just over 2 hours or so i posted the first post and i've already gone out and got the self titled album, just about to smoke a fatty and pop it in and have a listen.

I believe they say on Letter's From A Porcupine that he died after a cocaine binge while on tour.

Saw them at The old Warehouse in 93 with Tea Party and 13 Engines.Blind Melon are definately up there for me.Couldnt care when Cobain died but when Hoon died it was a real kick in the teeth.somebody on here mentioned them in a previous thread.Word is they are back together.

i was gonna say, even if his death wasnt directly drug related, a fatal heart attack at the age of like 30 has gotta be slightly drug related.

anyway, Blind melon are one of my favourite bands of all time. My favourite song is definately Paper Scratcher, though they are one of the few bands that are pretty much incapable of making a bad song...

Thanks for posting that UNified Theory video, they are really good! the singer actualyl has a bit of a Shannon vibe going on in terms of his voice

both..lenny puts on a hell of a show, and his first 2 cds i think are brilliant
