New Pearl Jam , whats everyones thoughts......... - Summiteer - 07-17-2003

what you think?

huh? New Pearl Jam? as in Riot Act??

I'd hardly call it new since it was released almost a year ago, but I personally love it. Better than Binaural for sure IMO.

No way does this album even come close to Yield. That's an album that broke the mould for PJ...everyone was writing, there was a great mentality and spirit (Seen in the live shows from '98 onward). Before Yield, PJ was a write-off to most critics (Not like they matter anyways) as moody and selfish, but now PJ is one of the most fan-orientated bands out there. GTF and DTE are two of PJ's top 5 songs of all time, IMHO, and although Riot Act is good, Yield was work of art for PJ, and all bands for that matter. But speaking of PJ....anyone have any of the official boots from 2003 they'd like to trade??? I've got a few....

I agree that Yield is their best album although I wouldn't write off any of their previous efforts. (though I'm no 'critic') Vs. and No Code are othen vying for position in my head for favorite PJ album as well. Riot Act though is a great album and I would say it's the their best effort since Yield.

In regards to official bootlegs I have only one actual cd copy and that is the show that I went to in Vancouver. I do however have 12 or so mp3 versions of the boots that I downloaded from the jamily site. If you havn't seen the jamily site I highly reccomend checking it out. There's a link to it on this site in the musician forum I believe.

Cheers,

Right now I've got the hate on for Yield. I just don't like the sound of alot of it, it sounds really produced to me. there's something about the guitar sound that just boters me on it, Stone's lead in "MFC" for example.

Right now I'm really liking Binaural. "Insignificance" and "Parting Ways" are my two most listened to songs right now.

As for the PJ album that broke the mould, it has to be No Code, not Yield. That was the album that seperated the real fans from the ones who liked what they heard on the radio.

As for Riot Act, I really like it.

As with The Hip, my favourite PJ albums go in cycles, so if I'm to look at this post in two weeks, my opinion could be different than it is now.
