Do you think we should lock each forum after the poll has passed?

No problem 420, I had a meeting this afternoon with one of the wealthiest CEO's in Winnipeg, so I couldn't get to a computer... Thanks for starting it this time, and also thanks to Lance for setting up the sub-forum!

It probably isn't necessary, as the poll automatically is locked after 24 hours. If we leave it unlocked, people can still make comments on the songs or results after the vote is over, even if they missed voting. But, if it does become a problem in the future, I would consider locking the thread.

The thing is.. It's too fair. Each song has been randomly assigned to it's match-up. I used numbered each song, then used a table of random digits to determine the match-ups. This was to ensure that there were no biases on my behalf, and that each song had an equal chance of being pitted against the hardest opponent, or one of the weaker B-sides. As they say, It's just the luck of the draw, and if this event is a success this year, your favourite songs may be given an easier match-up next year!

After 2 match ups, I gotta say these are difficult choices.
How about Grace v. Coconut Cream?
I picked Sherpa since it's been killer live lately. If they'd play Penguin I probably would've abstained from this vote.

Emperor Penguin for me. You know the songs that aren't the straight out rock ones like New Orleans Is Sinking or ballads like ABAC? The ones with cool guitar parts that just seem to float and you listen to for hours? Emperor Penguin is one of those. I love the way they layer the guitar and the lyrics/vocals are especially moving.
That being said my mouse hovered over the Sherpa option for a long time because that song has got some wicked lyrics.

I'm for Sherpa. It just steals me every. single. time. without hesitation.

It's kind of cool to see these similar songs compete (Similar as in, near the end of an album and not as well known). I hope there becomes a matchup of some polar opposites, like Long Time Running vs. Poets.
I can't wait to pick my brain tomorrow at what to choose. This kicks ass!

Gotta go for 'Sherpa'. Just the line, "we must be friends or die, and we've died a thousand times since then" is enough for me.

I used to Emperor Penguin on repeat. Recently, too, actually. I listened to one after the other today, though, and Sherpa is getting me emotional, so it gets my vote.

Sherpa is really cool - especially live, but I think that Emperor Penguin just has the edge for me at this moment in time.

Will these polls run on the weekend? I'm thinking about cancelling my internet here at my place, but if that means I can't vote on the weekend, then I don't think I will cancel it.
However, if it just runs during the work week, I can do it at work.
Anyone? This is damn sweet! It's too bad we couldn't include EVERY song somehow.
