This is setting up to be a great week here in Buffalo for the USA release. I get to see them Thursday night in Rochester (60 miles) and Friday and Saturday night in Buffalo (700 people)and then this news that they will play a local record store. An Acoustic set at that. It's the ultimate Hip weekend. They say nothing happens in Buffalo I guess they weren't hip fans.
To kick things off, we will be playing an in-store at FYE at 3701 McKinley Parkway in Buffalo. This will be a special acoustic performance and opportunity to meet the band in person.

Indeed! I absolutely love Phantom Acoustics, so 'Container Acoustics' would be made very welcome in my collection. 8)

The store manager told me that it will not be a true acoustic set, he said that he is positive that they will have amps and the like.

Just to be fair, I actually waited until today to buy it. I felt bad for the Americans who have been unable to buy it.
I ran out today and bought it! After a first listen it sounds great! What a crisp new sound!

Hallejullah brothers and sisters the day has finally arrived. What a beautiful day it is. Mt. Ranier shines out my window in a clear blue sky. Evil Dick is about to be laid waste by a wandering bit of his black soul. Scooter Libby is on his way to the rape gangs in prison and I have finally got my hands on World Container! Holy crap six months of listening to it on the Hips site did not prepare me for this. Johnny and Gorden are a machine! I am total impressed by the liner notes. I had no idea they would be so colorful. Is the cd image a map of the ozone hole? Kids sounds so different on the stereo. Wow! THIS ALBUM ROCKS. Time to dance around like a fool!

This begs to be asked.
Why did you wait until today to buy it? Shipping from a number of sites was under $5.
I'm not trying to criticize, just understand why you would wait an extra 4 months for an album which is available through a number of outlets.

I know it is kind of silly but I really wanted to wait until the US release. I like walking into the record store and picking it up on the first day. I also want my purchase to be reflected in the sales numbers. The fact that MAv made the album available on line was awesome. I also like to chat about the band with he people at the record store. Today I found out that the indie store I got WC at has four or five Hip promos from over the years. He can't sell them to me but I think he would take a trade. "Green" goes a long way around here. Over the past couple of months when my lady drags me shopping I go to all the big chain stores and request they import the cd with no intention of purchasing it. Over Christmas I must have requested it ten times. I have checked and all the copies have been sold, so either we have a lot of Canadians around here or the word is getting out about the hip.

lol this is wierd. I bought the cd on the canadian release day AND the US release day (today) lol. the reason? i lost my first one. Someone took it i believe. Actually out of my hip cd's the only one i didn't replace since the day it came out was IVL. EVERY other hip cd i've lost at least once throughout the years lol.
