For those of you looking to upgrade to windows vista now or in the future should know this. You can buy the OEM versions online on many sites. OEM versions of windows are typically for putting on systems when you buy the system. But you can buy the OEM alone for about half the price as the retail. The difference?
retail has prettier packaging.
OEM lacks some support (but who really uses the microsoft support?).
(i don't mean "support" as being windows updates, you still get that. i mean troubleshooting support when something goes wrong.)

example, vista ultimate edition retail price is $499 CAD.
I bought vista ultimate OEM for $229 CAD. its the same thing for half the price.
you can get any of the vista version (home,premium, business,ultimate) OEM's here if your Canadian <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.ncix.com/vista">www.ncix.com/vista</a><!-- w --> or somewhere on tigerdirect.ca i'd imagine also.
