Yeah, I interviewed with Microsoft several years ago, but after talking to some of the employees, I decided against accepting the position. I like geek stuff, but not enough to have no other life.

Hours of work wouldn't matter to me. I don't think I'd want to leave the place anyway. A gym, massages, free food. There's nothing out there in the world that I want other than those things.
Really though, I don't go to bars or movies so I would be willing to work long hours if the workplace really was that comfortable and fun.

Your view might change after you'd been there a while.
I'd be taking a really serious look at the workplace culture before taking a job there. The problem with employers who confuse work time with play time is that they like to make your play time into their work time.
A former co-worker of mine told me she now takes her vacations on cruise ships, since there is no cell phone coverage. It was the only way she could avoid being required to work on her vacation. At least, it was until her boss went on a cruise, came back, and announced, "Good news! They have cell coverage on cruise ships now!"

I heard that Google gets the most insane amount of cover letters / resume's daily. I think it was something like 2000 a day?
I find that hard to believe though.

You could be right. However, with the current state of my life (wasting away on EI at the moment), I think I'd like to be working at a place with free massages and food, even if I had to live there.
Bonner, it's 3000 applications a day according to that video report.

well my company that i work for is # 3 but doesn't have all that stufff
we were # 1 last year
in the report it sounds like the hours are long shit they let you bring you pets to work
i think staying all day and night might be expected and i bet there are not too many married people or people with children that work there

I remember my first real job...boy did I loathe people with kids. They'd always use them as an excuse to take off before work was done, leaving it with us interns who made roughly 20% of what they did.
And now I'm one of those jackasses. :lol:
