Opiated, Ohlund is the best d-man on the Canucks for sure, but I wouldn't go as far as saying he's the best in the NHL. ....and yeah, CLOUTIER DOES SUCK!!! I think Brent Johnson would have been a better starting goalie than Cloutier.

Also, cferneyh is correct even if nobody in Vancouver wants to believe hiim. Trevor Linden is just taking up space. I'd be tempted to say Tie Domi is as good as Linden right now. Linden doesn't hit, doesn't score, doesn't win faceoffs (under 50 percent). Oh yeah, his puckbunny fans will say he adds heart and courage and penalty killing. Yeah, right. hock:

Dude, do you actually read the Toronto media when it comes to their Leaf coverage? If you aren't from North America and you don't kiss the media's ass (HELLO CUJO! HELLO ROBERTS! HELLO NIEUWENDYK), it's a non-stop bash fest. If Ohlund was a Leaf he'd be criticized for being from Sweden, and lacking "heart" and "grit". That's the kind of bullshit that I've had to read about Captain Clutch over the years.

i don't read the toronto media, but i do that all we get from CBC and TSN, which are supposed to be national coverage, is how great the leafs are..year after year after year..it's sickening..

as for linden, i think that this will be his last year, but he's on the fourth line now and i think he's a great fourth liner to have...

You'll get Leaf bias on CBC because Cherry openly admits to being a Leaf fan. As for TSN, I guess I'm watching a different TSN from you, because the TSN I watch - the one with Fathead McKenzie and Loudmouth McGuire and I Think I'm The Shit Healy told me all pre-season that the Leafs will be hard pressed to make the playoffs. Call me crazy, but that isn't exactly pro-Leaf bias. If they were operating under a pro-Leaf bias, then Lindros' concussions wouldn't be brought up 15 times a week, nor would we keep being reminded of Allison's old injuries.

Lastly, how do you watch Leaf games on TSN? You aren't exactly in the Leaf region and since they only broadcast Leaf games in the Leaf region, well, I'm left to assume that you are just assuming there is a Leaf bias, versus there actually being one.

I thought TSN games were now broadcast nationally, I know I caught the season opener, but it might have just been because of that reason.

There really hasn't been any Leaf-leaners in the broadcast booth (at least on national broadcasts), but you'd be hard pressed to argue that the last few seasons on CBC haven't been of Leaf Glorification... Not just Cherry in the Control Room, but right up to the announcers (most notably Cole, and Neale).

And I'm not just saying that because I'm a Sens fan, I'm sure many others country wide would full-heartedly agree.

TSN does do national broadcasts, but they also have regional broadcast rights to several Leaf games (basically most of Ontario except for Ottawa region).

As far as CBC, personally I don't see the pro-Leaf bias... but then again I'm a Leaf fan so you might say I can't see the bias. Whatever, I guess...

Regarding his discussion with opiated, I do have to admit that I like the Canucks, they are probably my second-favourite team right now, mostly because of Naslund... such a great talent and a treat to watch play when he's at his scoring, full-flowing best. I do think Ohlund is a good defenseman, but best in the NHL is a bit much... one of the best maybe. But cfern's right on one thing... the 'Nucks won't win a thing with Cloutier in net.

TSN does do national broadcasts (tonight's Isles/Rags game for example), but the vast majority of Leaf games they do are for the "Leaf region" only. Since I used to subscribe to Centre Ice with Bell ExpressVu it didn't matter to me, but I switch to Shaw a few months back and they don't !@#$%^&* offer Centre Ice. :x

And I honestly don't mean to piss anyone off when it comes to hockey chat - I'm just passionate about the sport. And since I suck at playing the game, I need to channel my energy to debating about it. :lol:

I've got no problems with the 'nucks. Hell, when I lived in Vancouver I went to about 20 games a year. I love Naslund. Class guy all around. I used to really enjoy watching Bertuzzi play, until he signed that fat contract and he hasn't been the same player since (and I'm talking pre-incident). I mean take a look at his 03/04 season - a whopping 17 goals in 69 games despite playing with Nazzy. And he's on a similar pace so far this year. Yikes.

OK, enough for now - time to get back to pissing off the teachers.

So true. Ya can't win the Cup, let alone make a run for it without solid goaltending. There's no question the 'Nucks are a talented team, but if they don't improve their goalie situation, it'll be a short season for them.

Yeah... I'm not referring to this season. I recall in past years, though, that the fine citizens of the city of Ottawa were fronted by consistent bias, regular and post-season alike. It was mainstream in our papers for a few weeks, and if I recall there were complaints to the CBC.

This year doesn't matter, really... anbody given a chance to form a patriotic favourite, and, in doing so, chooses the Leafs, is just an idiot.

No offence to Leafs fans... we've had our fair share of defeat, but realistically, it does look like the Sens, Canucks and Canadiens are on there way to a damn fine season (not to mention the currently dormant Flames).

Yeah, thats right, I'm outrageous, zany, and too wild to contain, but I see the Senators having a 120 point season...

So very true, and just add credence to that, two words:

Philadelphia Flyers. <--Great teams, terrible/shaky goaltending.

Hextall, Beezer, Chechmanek, Esche....I rest my case. I have a feeling the same fate will befall the Canucks.
