I'm really looking forward to the start of the p/o, will be cheering for Tampa tonight. They'll be in tough with the Sens and i just can't see Graham being able to stop the Sens explosive offense, and the Sens defense is vastly superior to that of the Bolts. Let's hope i'm wrong though, and Richards & Lecavalier can keep up their strong play since the Olympics break, but it'll take more than just those 2 guys.

FLAMES WIN!!!

The good thing about this game is that the Flames didn't play well at all and yet they still found a way to win. The Ducks on the other hand played a great game and threw everything they had at us, but could only muster one goal off a flukey deflection. I'm definitely liking our chances in this series, especially since the Flames still have another gear that they can get to. I expect they'll be a lot better in game 2. Some of our young guys obviously had a case of the first game jitters tonight, and they looked a little nervous, but thankfully the vets came through in the clutch. McCarty, Amonte, and Iggy were awesome tonight.

Oh, and Kipper was pretty good too.

Yup!! Those guys were all stellar! That last goal was sweet!!!

Watched the game at a buddies house on 15th Ave. It was getting pretty busy down on 17th when we went through, the city's getting pumped for the playoffs again. Definitly bodes well for the flames pulling a win out of that game.

Gotta love the playoffs, great hockey last nite. I watched the Cal-Ana game, what a battle. The Ottawa game was a good one, lots of scoring chances and good pace, Emery looked sharp. I think Ottawa is going to be tough to stop if he keeps that up. I feel bad for the Oilers, I was hoping they would win that game, they fought hard.

The Sens game rocked! The Calgary game wasn't too bad either. I was so hoping though that the Oilers would have pulled it off against Det. They almost did heres to game 2!

What a nail-biter that Detroit/Edmonton game was last night. Maltby had to be the least likely to be the hero of the game. He had 5 goals in 82 regular season games and scored the tieing and winning goals last night. Way to go Malts! I'm not sure why the commentators kept calling him "Cambridge's Kirk Maltby" when he's from Guelph, but whatever. I can't believe Detroit got 58 shots through to the net and there were close to 30 more blocked. I don't think Roloson can keep them in this series if they keep getting outplayed as badly as they did last night.

He was born in Guelph but grew up in Cambridge (Hespeler specifically). I went to school with him and played hockey with him - until we were 15. By the age of 15 he was a tad better than I was (and by "tad" I mean a million, billion times better).

His little brother Shawn plays pro hockey as well, though not quite at level Kirk plays at:

I see. Everything I had seen said he was from Guelph. Didn't know he grew up in Cambridge. Thanks for the info.

It was good to see him score a couple big goals especially after the 30-some-odd game scoring drought(sp?) that he went through during the season.

There's nothing quite like sitting down to a playoff game and waiting excitedly for powerplay after powerplay. After all, why let the players decide the game, eh? I guess not every game was bad but you could make a highlight clip of about 8 or 9 penalties that shouldn't have been called in the games.

Anyway, I caught a lot of the Flames/Ducks game and the Flames were outplayed but found a way to win. The Flames weren't exciting to watch last night at all. I like watching them when they're hitting, even when they only get about three scoring chances a game. However, if they aren't hitting or scoring they are about as fun to watch as paint drying (sorry direwolf).

Tampa confirmed their lack of goaltending, Edmonton at least showed that they won't be beaten to a pulp in every game, and Nashville proved that Joe Thornton isn't a powerful god who can lead his team to victory every night.

I can't wait for tonight to see what my Nucks can......oh yeah...... :oops: :x

Play of the night was definitely the slash by Roloson on Maltby. Grade A stuff right there! :thumb:
