sean.bonner Wrote:Here's an idea inspired by Wilco's 'Incredible Shrinking Tour': Multiple concerts consecutively in Toronto at different venues. I'm not the most familiar with what venues are in and around Toronto, but it could go something like this:
Show 1 - Horseshoe Tavern
Show 2 - The Phoenix
Show 3 - Lee's Palace
Show 4 - Hummingbird Centre
Show 5 - Massey Hall
Show 6 - Dundas Square

Wilco pulled off a similar excursion through various venues in Chicago.

Lee's, Pheonix, and Horseshoe are all absolute dumps.

Massey Hall
Echo Beach (if summer)
Danforth Music Hall

I don't really have 2 other small venues off the top of my head right now.

In other news, does anyone have the pricing info for the Ivor Wynne show yet?

I hate the Phoenix, but have to say Lee's is one of my favourite venues. Awesome basement feel to the place.

And these are prices I appreciate seeing from The Hip:

$32.85 Ticket
+
$12.00 Fees
=
$44.85

(even though in no way shape or form should a ticket fee be 36% of a total ticket price - what a freaking racket by Live Nation)

Re: Tour Dates 2012 - Rye - 09-05-2012

The Fillmore date got pulled off Ticketmaster last night. Regardless, hopefully we're getting a full tour announcement in the next week or two.

Re: Tour Dates 2012 - nhaste - 09-08-2012

For the Sept 29th Sound Academy show, are tickets only available through the Molson Red Leaf thing? Or is it likely to be put on sale to hip.com members and/or the public?

Re: Tour Dates 2012 - tigerthelion88 - 09-09-2012

red leaf only

I love all three of those venues, they're about ten million times better than Sound Academy. At least you can stand on the floor and see the stage.

wholeheartedly agree - i have extremely fond memories from each of those venues. sound academy is the worst venue in the city, by far.
actually, i would take all three of those venues over a big venue like ACC. there's a whole different vibe that really is the heart of seeing live music.

Re: Tour Dates 2012 - NegPhil - 09-16-2012

I don't know what to do. Do I fly home for Spokane, Seattle, Portland or do Vegas? I'm going to see them in DC but once is never enough.

Re: Tour Dates 2012 - VioletlightHeron - 09-16-2012

Looks like I'll be heading to the Boston show with the wife. Woot! The dates that have me baffled are the Fargo and Billings shows. Confusedcratch: Confusedcratch: I didn't think there would be enough interest to tour there...

Re: Tour Dates 2012 - sean.bonner - 09-17-2012

Maybe the New Brunswick boys can make'er down to Maine

Re: Tour Dates 2012 - VioletlightHeron - 09-17-2012

Oh to be young, not paying off debt from a fantastic wedding and in possession of tons of vacation time; I'd do Portland, Boston, NYC in a heartbeat with the wife if the funds and vacation time were available
