Kovalev is the worst player on Montreal's roster DESPITE the fact that he scores lots of goals. He's the most individual person in the league, not a team player at all. Hogs the puck, likes to do all the footwork himself, constantly puts his own guys offside by hanging onto the puck too long, etc etc. I think after this catastrophic move, he should be let go.It's just the single most striking example of a habithe has had since he arrived in Montreal.

I can't believe what a weasel Kovalev is , here's what he says about what happened.
"I know it's the playoffs, I know it's not going to be easy, but some plays should be called," Kovalev said. "I just felt my hand go numb. But (the referees) won't call anything and it's frustrating it ended up that way. One thing I know is that if I did that, they'd call it right away. Now there's nothing I can say. We ended up hitting each other and Shel lost the puck, and that's it."
Shel lost the puck ? Nice try.

It wasn't bad enough that he 'wimped' out begging for a call, but it is now someone else's fault and the puck was "lost" ... yeh only after he banged into Souray like a moron! :x

Hey CC,
I'm still waiting to hear back from HNIC actually.
I can dig Iggy too especially when he is playing for Canada but as for his fightin, he should leave that to the goons.
Rec Hockey For Life!! There's nothin like the wind in your face and the puck on your stick! Unless you're about to dance with some at centre ice. I would rather play than watch every time.
One question though, How could the two hander on Kovalev not be a penalty but the so called boarding of Iggy should have been a penalty? If you've ever been hit above the cuff on your glove you would realize why he lost the puck. Had Ohlund really given Iggy a cheap shot Iggy wouldn't have gotten up afterwards nevermind chasing down Ohlund to try and ingage him in a fight.
Hey ladies I wasn't trying to be sexist. I meant that in Women's hockey you would be assessed a penalty for an open ice hit. They keep the contact to minimum in Women's hockey, where as in Men's hockey contact is encouraged. If we take out the contact and the rough stuff it ceases to be hockey.

I heard Vaccination Scar on the TV broadcast of last night's Leafs-Sens game!! What a great way to indoctrinate 20,000 fans at once to the Hip's new material. It was played loud enough to hear over the commentators, so I know most people in the rink would have been able to hear it.
Speaking of the game....YEEEE HAW! For the first tiem in the entire damn series, I feel like Ottawa stands a CHANCE of winning. My team might still end up letting me down, but last night we saw the results of the Leafs constantly letting the Sens get 30, 35, even almost 40 shots on goal. YOU CAN ONLY RIDE YOUR GOALIE FOR SO LONG! Sens in 7!!

Belfour needed a break, with two shutouts you can give him credit. Leafs are going all the way

I think the slash should have been penalty, but that's not the point. The point is it's overtime and you don't shake your hand like it's broken (when you obviously aren't hurt bad enough to quit) and then because you are pre-occupied about the wrist waving show , you skate into your own defenseman and take him out the play. Refs are notorious for not calling penalties in overtime. As for Ohlunds cheap shot, well let's define "cheap shot". A cheap shot is a play that is dirty ; slewfoot, spear, headbutt, suckerpunch, crosscheck from behind, elbowing etc...A cheap shot is not defined by an injury, it is defined by the act and the obvious potential for injury . Iggy is tough. Period. He doesn't feign injury, if that were Kovalev being crosschecked , you can bet he would have squirmed on the ice like a stuck pig.

I have to disagree with ya CC,
A slewfoot, elbow or crosscheck is part o the game buddy. How the heck are the D going to move peeps from in frony of the net with out a crosscheck? If every crosscheck in front of the net was a penalty then every d man is cheap. You ever tried to move 200 pounder by gently pushing him? Ha Ha I would like to see that.
I saw a penalty called in overtime just the other day. So it is ok to commit penalties in ot cause the ref won't call em? Ya right.
Take a slash to the wrist and see if you don't shake your hand. It was too bad he didn't finish the play. Had his wrist been broken does that make it ok for him to leave the puck?
I think a cheap shot is defined by the injury, otherwise it is just a shot during the game. If it doesn't hurt it doesn't count. If you pay close attention to the game, especially if you are at one, watch what happens out there away from the puck. It is all dirty cheap shots only peeps aren't always hurt so it doesn't matter. This is an extremely physical game, they are big boys getting alot of money to burn, beat or kill the other team.
Doesn't anyone remember the Philly Bullies from the 70's? My uncle is the Hammer from that team and is one of my alltime fav players. Maybe his headbutts were a little cheap but hey these guys are gladiators.
Let's keep old time hockey alive folks!!
