tragicallymike Wrote:The sabres own the leafs...they always have. One blowout means nothing. We came right back to the ACC and beat em last night. What a team you got there!!
By the way, talk all you want about the sabres not being in the playoffs the last 3 years. The leafs havent even participated in the Stanley Cup finals since 1967. Thats pathetic. Their one good chance came against the Sabres and all we all know how that turned out with the Sabres dismantling the leafs in 5 games ...on your home ice. By the way even Rob Ray scored a game winning goal in that series. Maybe a few of you leaf fans will like to take a roadtrip down the QEW to catch some playoff hockey this year.
I love Sabres fans. The history of the Sabres is SO worth bragging about. Woohooo! We lost the Cup in '75 and '99. Woohooo our team went bankrupt a few years ago! Woohoo we beat an injury riddled Leaf team in a shootout when they were playing their third string goalie! Woohooo we need fans to come from Ontario to keep the franchise afloat!
I've always been pretty ambivalent about the Sabres, but it's actually gonna be fun to watch 'em lose in the playoffs this year. And they
will lose - that's the identity of the franchise - like from '84 to '92 when they didn't win a single round in the playoffs, despite being coached by Scott Bowman in that span. And look at the sweat stain that Bowman's time in Buffalo is on his career mark:

Woohoo! Sabres rule!

How dare the sabres try to regionalize the team and bring in fans from nearby areas. I guess they are pretty stupid to market the team to Canada which is literally a stones throw away from the HSBC arena. Don't forget that we benched our leading scorer last night and still beat you. We also played OUR backup goalie and beat you. We took 40+ goals out of our lineup last night, played mair and peters and still beat you.

Not stupid, just pathetic that Buffalo - with a population of 1.1 million - needs fans from elsewhere to survive. Unlike, oh I don't know, Calgary, with a population of 900K yet supports the Flames without having to rely on the assistance of "nearby areas".
A shootout win against a non-playoff team playing their 3rd string goalie is worth bragging about?
Like I said, I love Sabres fans.

You are an idiot. Should we close the borders and not let fans from southern ontario in. That is our market, just like Hamilton is Toronto's market as well. Their are sabres fans from ontario. Its not pathetic to me that a good number of leafs fans are from Hamilton. Thats just the way it is.

I really shouldnt call you an idiot in a hockey discussion but sometimes I wonder if you actually believe what you are saying.

Sigh.
Did I say "close the borders"? What I said is that it is pathetic that Buffalo
cannot support the team on its own, while other cities - with smaller populations - are able to do so with their franchises. Is this opinion really that difficult to understand?
Feel free to call me an idiot. The day that your opinion actually matters to me is the day that I start to think that Wendy is stable.

Wow, what a game between the Flyers & Rangers tonight, that was something else! Jaromir Jagr had 12, that's 12!! scoring chances tonight. Breakaways, odd man rushers, point blank onetimers, etc...but couldn't beat Robert Esche. Esche was incredible in this game (as was Kevin Weekes filling in for the injured Henrik Lundqvist), and was the sole reason - along with a superb performance from Peter Forsberg - the Flyers managed to pick up a point.
The game featured a bit of everything though. Denis Gauthier's hit on Martin Straka was one of the hardest i've seen in recent memory. Ryan Hollweg & Mike Richards had a pretty good scrap. The two superstars were just that (Forsberg & Jagr). Great goaltending. Great shootout winner by Petr Sykora. And best of all, the Rangers clinched a playoff spot.

I just call a spade a spade. Don't worry its only 6 more months until the leafs play another meaningful game.
