btw...no ghostwriters, that hurts man, especially as i am an aspiring rapper (yeah yeah laugh or w/e, but this honky's got the mad skills, for real)/song-writer (you gottta know i still love to rock and roll)...lol!

prince is better...EARLY ZZ top is better, Faith No More is wayy fucking better...i never got into Sonic Youth, however i think they are probably better than DEF, ..Kiss,nobody is worse than kiss not even def leppard

i actually went to see def leppard last year(not a fan-free tickets) and it felt good walking away from from 3rd row seats just as they started the encore. that concert scarred me Cry

i dunno man, like kiss and def leppard pretty much both suck the same, like as much as you can suck.
the best thing out of the 80's was the TV,
i mean that's what bs Hollywood is smearing around...Miami Vice movie?!!

Are you kidding? I'm gonna be first in line to see that thing when it comes out next week. I was a huge fan of the show, and with original series creator Michael Mann writing and directing the big screen version, how can you go wrong? I'm looking forward to it.

Ry, I hate to do it, but I just have to add my 2¢ on this Def Lappard debate, because I myself used to own every one of their albums up through Hysteria.

Nobody can tell you what you ought to like. If you enjoy DL, so be it, and you don't have to justify that to anyone. But if you try to argue the artistic merits of their music compared to other acts in rock, especially in terms of lyric-writing savvy, you don't have a leg to stand on.

To be honest, I still can enjoy hearing certain DL songs on the radio, because one thing that band could do (especially on High and Dry, Pyromania, & Hysteria) was write catchy riffs that rocked. The truth, however, is that DL pales in comparison to some of the more accomplished musicians in popular music, and lyrically, they are nothing short of an embarrassment to themselves. I would tell you with a stright face that I think I could write 100 songs that, line for line, are far better than what Joe Eliot (or whoever writes those lyrics) has done.

As stupid as the "Armageddon It" lyrics are, I think the intro, verse, and chorus riffs in that song kick ass. Unfortunately, they are mired in the 'hair band' style and genre, and the band couldn't do anything outside of that pattern. What's more, those riffs are the best examples of what they could produce. Everything since then has been complete cheese and cliché, in comparison, which is pathetic, since it already was rather cheesey and cliché beforehand.

That lack of uniqueness, originality and ability to grow and evolve ought to clue you in to their limitations as musicians.

I agree with you on almost everything you say. However, if you look at any of my previous posts, I have not praised DL's lyrics once. All I have done is quoted some of PJ's and Fiona's stupid lyrics after someone quoted "Armageddon it." And when you say that they pale in comparison to the more accomplished musicians of rock, I totally agree with you there too as I never said that they were better than any band except Pearl Jam.
But I do thank you for being the first one here who doesn't just type "Def Leppard Sucks." You've also given them some credit for their catchy rock riffs.
