I can only choose one??? Okay, Another Midnight by far is my favourite. It's an oldie, but goodie.
Close runners up though are (in no particular order): Dire Wolf, Beautiful Thing, Emperor Penguin, Bobcaygeon, It's a Good Life, Gus, Thompson Girl!, Pigeon Camera, Opiated, Lake Fever, Completists, Last American Exit, Grace too, and god, I could actually go on, but I'll spare you, because this was supposed to be about your "one" favourite song.

Thompson Girl - I'll have to agree with you on that "Another Midnight" choice, it's so amazing!...Who knows, with the randomness and rarity of the setlists so far this June, maybe and hopefully it'll pop up on the setlist this Saturday.

Hey, I'll cross my fingers...I've never heard it live. I think its one of those songs they put on the shelf never to be brought out ever again. I'd love to know the story behind it and why they don't play it live much.

Wow, with 6 pages I didn't know that I would be the odd ball............
My all time favourite would go to Three Pistols, (I was surprsied to see no one else mention it, aside from one "honorable mention")
Classic intro, ranks right up there to the intro to Limelight (Rush). There is no way I can stay seated if I hear either one of these songs......... :jump ........can make driving very difficult sometimes.......

Sure don't hear too many Hip fans mention that kickass cut as a fave, but it sure is a worthy candidate. Definitely makes my short-list.

Of course it being the best song ever, I was completely stunned that people don't see it for how good it is. You my friend took the words out of my mouth exactly. **the exit drum beat also sounds like it could lead right into the drum beat intro to Innocent by OLP.**
But ya, this song is just.... I mean all hip songs are FANTASTIC, and they all have a great, great rocking feel to them, but this one is TIMELESS. It has that, meant to close an album, meant to close a show, live feel. It builds and builds and builds and just makes you smile by the end.

BDS28, you must be uber-grateful that TTH decided to merge what was initially two different songs into one to comprise what we now all know as TDC.
Though I wish they had left them as independent compilations, because the first half, which doesn't particularly excite me, detracts from the second half, which I think kicks so much ass it doesn't even need to take names.
Besides, if the second half of The Dark Canuck did take names after kicking the first half's ass, it would probably just bust out laughing.
I mean, c'mon -"Apple"? "Zippo"? "Metronome"?
Please.
The second half's name is probably something like "Mack" or "Rusty" or "Killer".
I guess it could always be "Paul". :rambo:

Though, I think I'd have to agree. I would like for TDC to exist as two different pieces. I love both "sections" but I am not too sure that they jive well enough to work as a unit.

Mine change as my mood changes.
I really like Leave how it starts out slow then picks up in the middle.
Fiddlers Green is also great.
The Luxury,Escape,Putting Down,Its A Good Life,and Bobcaygeon are superb songs also.
But there is something magical when Gord gets into his zone and goes off on At The Hundreth Meridian live.The first time I heard it live it was outstanding especially when they speed it up.It was kinda hard to go back to the studio version.

I know that you know that there are two distict pieces that comprise TDC; the first piece segues into the second after the lyric "And it goes on and on and on"..... and before the lyric "If we ever get home.... "
Well, I believe it was Gord Sinclair who said that those two pieces were written independent of one another, and merged together into one song (TDC) just prior to (or during) recording.....
