10/20/04 - Burlington, VT. - I was on the railing the entire concert and the boys were in rare form that night. It was the night that the Sox beat the Yanks and Gord came out and mentioned the score as well as the fact that during one rant he said (paraphrased here) during Courage that "There you are! There's the crowd! We've got beer and a baseball game in the dressing room, and you couldn't have shown up at a worse time."

10/2000 - Syracuse, NY - Evening With show...need I say more!!!???!!!

Any of the New Years shows too...the boys are always on point for these.

High Sierra Music Festival - I believe it was in 1995 I can't remember the dates

I voted for that one too..I was there for the whole show...my non fanatical friends left to watch the game. After the show I sprinted to the Queen City Tavern in time for the 7th inning. It was the best night of my life...

I'm very interested in what a sound board recording from that venue would sound like (it's a small gymnasium). Whenever I see them there I can't make out any of Gord's rants.

1995-06-05 - Pinkpop Festival, Landgraaf, Netherlands
It's a great gig, including the "This song is for people who are heavily into Jesus... And Bon Jovi" song intro. It also includes the Cookie Factory segue in NOIS, as well as an AMAZING vocal by Gord on an early version of Ahead By A Century. It's in a different key than the regular version, and I can't believe Gord sang that high. Sounds absolutely amazing. The copy I have is really short, but it's friggin sweet.

2000-12-07 - Molson Centre, Montreal
This is obvious. Great setlist. Great night. And it's got Montreal. I would love to hear a soundboard of this gig, purely because of that. I also REALLY love the version of Scared they do at this gig.

2004-12-05 - Metro Centre, Halifax
Only because it was my first gig. It's definately not their best, but unfortunately, the bootleg availible doesn't have the last encore, and missing Grace just hurt. It was amazing during Blow, when Paul managed to break TWO strings on his guitar, and kept hammering away at it. Awesome night for me personally.

These have almost all been said (with I think the exception of Halifax), but that's my 2 cents on the issue.

Okay , i only have one. And its an odd request but i would request...

Live between us...but the FULL version.

As most know the LBU that we all love and know is not the full show. I believe there was around 6 or 7 songs cut to keep length at 1 cd.
Since it is one of the best live shows period already, i have been dying to get my hands on the full version.

Hopefully someone will second my vote..

Really? hmmmm . . . . never heard anything about that either.

I did...the radio station here, Power 97 reported that the Hip wanted to put the Winnipeg show on the DVD, but it was decided that the Toronto show would go on. The little snipit on the radio is called "Music news you can use", I assume their stuff is credible.

But yeah...my vote would go to the Winnipeg show as well. My first hip concert...from the second row...I was so swept up I can barely remember it. Played Escape..I think I nearly died.

man, it looks like I missed the boat on this thread but I will post anyway. My reasons are purely selfish since the only thing I have to base the selections on is the fact that I was there for these shows.



04/17/1999 Boulder, CO: arguably the best Hip show I have ever been to. The band was absolutely on fire that night. It was the last night of that leg of the PP tour (the band flew home for a break and the tour resumed a few weeks later). The setlist included two relative rarities: Cordelia and Lionized. An absolutely phenomenal show that unfortunately has no good-sounding boots to show for it.

08/07/2002 Denver CO: The second night of a two-night stand is always better, and this was no exception. The band just had a groove that night that was otherworldly. On multiple occasions throughout the night, when a song would end, me and my friend I went with just looked at each other and shook our heads. We said nothing but knew what the other was thinking. We were observing the best live band on the planet enter a new dimension of groove that rendered us speechless in our appreciation.

08/10/2002 Phoenix AZ: Unreal IVL tour performance. The show is very special to me because it was (and likely will be) the last Hip show I ever saw. I knew by the time the band toured again, my wife and I would have kids and traveling out of town to go to shows would no longer be an option. I asked a guy with a backstage pass in Vegas the night before to ask the band to play Three Pistols in AZ for me. Sure enough, they ended the show with my requested tune. To top things off, I nabbed one of Johnny's sticks used to play it, as well as Gord D's setlist. Talk about ending my Hip concert career on a high note!

11/26/1996 Buffalo NY: Phenomenal TATH show. Excellent quality boots exist but a sbd recording would be great. Best Hiccups of all time.

10/27/2000 Fort Collins CO: an amazing Evening With show played to a mere 400 people packed into the Aggie Theater. The band and the audience were one on this night. No one left disappointed from the 30-song set list.

Awesome from start to finish. The loudest sound I've ever heard was the ovation at the end of Courage!

Hey MAv, I just thought of two more things I would like to see.
They are not old shows - but rather two videos.

1. "Killer App" - TV pilot - the entire group performs - I believe three songs - at least they recorded three songs.
2. "Snow on the Skeleton Key" - 40 minute movie by Zachary Derhodge - Gord Downie acting.

I wonder if that's the thing i saw a while ago?

I saw a video about a year ago, and for the life of me I can't remember where I saw it. It had Gord acting, and it was set in a bar and he was telling a story about a fight or something. Geez, pretty sketchy details, but that's about all I remember. Gord did kick some ass though.
