this album is the 2nd worst thing they have ever done, in my opinion... the worst being IVL.
i will still go to the tour (if they actually play in NB) but i just don't get this album at all.
Is it your first listen? If so give a few more spins :thumb: . However, if WATS is on its #20th rotation, well there is nothing I can say except that you have missed the 2009 Hip-Bus to the promise land …

Totally! From the first time I heard it I thought of the shot when Gord Sinclare flubs a note on the banjo and looks at the camera with that awesome grin.
I love that guy.

I know it's all different strokes for different folks..... I like the album, but definately don't think it's the "greatest thing they've ever done" as some seem to think, and that's ok. They are entitled to their opinon as I am mine.
I'd probably rank WATS somewhere in the middle of the albums, maybe slipping to the last third. There's a few tracks that I like, such as Recluse, the Suite, and even Love is a first has grown on me... but things like Coffee Girl, Speed River, and sometimes even Frozen in my Tracks don't turn my crank at all.......
I can appreciate what they are trying to do on this album, and maybe once i see some of the songs live I'll appreciate them better.....
While I think I'll enjoy this driving around on a summer's day, if I was headed to a secluded island and could only bring 3 Hip CD's with me, I don't think this would be one of them.

i'll try to give a more proper detailed review at a later date, however...
this cd is different and i really embrace different. the fact that most of the cd doesn't flat out rock hard attracts me to it more than if it totally rawked out. i love the moodier slow hip songs...they're the ones that suck me in the most. mostly cause gord has such a way with words. truly he is one of the best lyricists around.
it's hard to top world container for me but this is soooo close and so close to the point where i think that when i finally get to know the new cd 110% it'll surpass world container. i can just tell it's one of those creepers...
henhouse will always be #1 for me
stand out tracks so far are:
depression suite
morning moon
speed river
and i loved the fact that the band used some horns/violins/different sounds etc on this cd
