I am a joiner.(fancy name for a woodworker) I served a 4 year apprencticeship, and have been a journeyman for 17 years. I work in a High End Cabinetshop, running the custom dept. They're 7 guys in my dept. and our shop puts out about three $50,000 kitchens a day.
I spend most of my time fixing other people's screw ups...but I do get the use of a company truck. And we listen to the radio all day! sorry opiated, we prefer your old station... Cry

Cool, if I ever wanted to quit my job and go a totally different direction I'd take up woodworking professionally. It's always been a hobby of mine.

As for my current full-time job, I'm a data warehouse admin for a fairly large alcohol company. Part-time I run my own web/database development business, and I also volunteer on the board of directors at a local Italian (Furlan) cultural institution.

I'm a wildlife officer in Fort Smith, NWT. If you want to know where Fort Smith is, it shows up on the header for these pages with the orange map of Canada. It's located on the NWT/Alberta border. It even shows the road we're gonna drive to attend the show Jan 14 in Edmonton.

Cool Subject....amazing how everyone does different things but when they get into their cars on the way home there's a Hip disc spinning in the Cd Player. Currently WC is playing over and over in my car.

I spend my days as a lumber trader in the US NorthEast market. Wouldn't change it right now for anything. Spend most of the day on my phone as I am located in BC dealing in places like Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Boston etc... I do have to travel quite a bit but I have an understanding better half that knows what I need to do to bring home the $$$$.

tfoe,

How's the water levels where you're at? I caught a bit of the news last night high water where?.....Fraser River?

- tfoe - 11-13-2006

It's not too bad. It's the Vedder and The Chilliwack Rivers that are making the most noise. Some flooding from the Chilliwack mid last week. Few house being evacuated. Water has come down a bit this week but could be in for some more local flooding after tomorrows predicted storm.

Until recently I worked at ATI in the multimedia applications team. I was responsible for the ATI Remote Wonder and large parts of our TV application. In addition to a pure development role (C/C++/C#,etc) I also had project management responsibilities and spent time coaching other members of the team.

What are you doing now? Did AMD shuffle people out the door?

Yes, AMD shuffled many of us out the door today. Just weeks ago I had been personally promised that no lay offs would be happening and then today a huge bombshell landed.
