Definitely "The Dark Canuck". The end of that song is the perfect way to end a song and an album. So much finality in it. My favourite Hip song and my favourite song overall. I just love how the Hip always open their albums to a rocking up-tempo beat, and always end with something that makes the end uncontestable. You can't argue with the fact that the album's over. But "The Dark Canuck" leads a double life. Even though it's so final, try restarting the album right after. The fade out fits perfectly with "Are You Ready"'s opening chords. I think it's a conspircay to get us into an eternal In Violet Light loop.

I agree. The version from London ON 1998 07 07 could, quite possibly, be the world's most perfect song.

'Something On'
The first Hip song I heard when I became a fan in '02 travelling across Europe with a bunch of crazy canucks from Toronto; I became addicted!!
They played it live in '04 here in Seattle and it blew me away..
Honourable mentions are 'It's a good life if you don't weaken', 'Grace Too' and 'Are we Family' which is one of my all time favourite songs. I've only seen them live twice though so I still have lots of catching up to do! :mrgreen:

Ahead by a Century is one which just seems to be constantly in my head.
Others I couldn't leave out:
Wheat Kings, Poets, The Darkest One, Nautical Disaster and Sweet Jane.

Escape is good but I don't like the lyrics change. The lyrics were better when they broke into the song during NOIS from the Wash Dc boot before the album came out. I think final lyrics took away from the song

I never get tired of Killer Whale Tank but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Tiger the Lion. I just think it's a really cool song and different from a lot of what they do.
